Cinema-like footage at a tiny fraction of upgrading the camera!
I wanted to squeeze out movie-like motion blur for B-roll using my humble Sony CX405 Handycam. But that camera offers no way to set cinema-like shutter speeds, especially in bright outdoor light, without overexposing everything. So I paired this filter with a glued-on-the-camera 49mm step-up ring. By cranking up the ND filter (until the picture looked too dark) I got the motion blur that matched what my main camera was recording - or close enough that nobody would ever notice!

Excellent buy..!
It's a nice filter. It protects the lens and the ability to vary the filter intensity is great. The x pattern in an area of the ring travel is expected and avoidable.Great value, do not affect color.Good buy.

Good up to about 5 stops. Great customer service!
Living in a snowy area, ND filters really help me manage light in my photos. Especially on a sunny day or pointing at a light source. I've experienced some challenges with this product but have also achieved some pretty good images using it. I've attached some overexposed images to better show an 'X' anomaly I had with a 120° lense at 8-9 stops. I've also attached some better images at 3 to 5 stops. Seems this 'X' issue is common with variable ND filters. Also, I've experienced and exceptional level of customer service regarding this and the folks representing this product have really come through to help me work through this issue. I started at a 1* review but have revised to a 4* because of this and now have a better understanding of variable ND filters and that this 'X' is just unavoidable under certain conditions.

If you think these are bad… it’s user error
Pretty good. People saying they’re bad don’t know how to use these. Follow directions and these will work wonders.-only issue is you can use lens covers or hoods with these

Great adjustable filter
Pros: works as advertised. The sliding design that allowing for gradual shifts from almost no light filtering to nearly all light filtering is amazing. Seems to be very nice quality and arrived with what appears to be a well-made protective case. The cost seems very reasonable for what I received.Cons: I would actually appreciate if the turning (for filtering adjustment) was just a touch 'stiffer' or had a way to lock it into a specific place (I know I'm asking a lot here for such a little filter). I found it was relatively easy to bump it and end up with more light entering than I expected. This was a very minor issue that certainly could be (and is now) dealt with by exercising more caution.Would absolutely buy again. Bought for the 2024 eclipse in North America and the lens filter performed beautifully.

Better than it deserves to be.
Perfect for what I need it for (neewer iPhone camera cage). The stops were easy to work and allowed me to use the native ISO of the iPhone in day time - 1250 ISO.
