This torch is so convenient and I've never replaced it for any other reason than having multiples in every corner of the house, and giving them to friends. Since it's a striker, with a flint instead of an electric spark, it never fails to light. The on-off switch is tough enough to be kept in a pocket without being accidentally tripped, although it can't always withstand being kept in a backpack or other bag with hard objects. I have only had it accidentally flipped into the "on" position once, and it was in a bag, with another lighter that must've hit it just right. I've also only dropped it once, while it was burning, and it was a frantic fumble, while simultaneously moving and praying that my homework didn't catch on fire. But, that could happen with any "locking" flame, if you're not using it with care. The flame isn't too hot, but an adjustable knob can turn it up or down to produce the heat that you require. I love this lighter and everyone who sees it in qction wants one of their own. I've purchased this 5 pack many times, and will continue to do so because of the value. So far pretty solid quality. The main issue is the small tank that empties out pretty quickly. Otherwise, they work as intended and for longer than your average torch.

I bought a 5 pack of these a about a month before Christmas. One didn't work because the switch wouldn't lock to "on" for lighting it. Still I bought 3 more 5 packs for gifts to co-workers. I showed them how the screw on the bottom was a spring tube for replacing the flint. Then tonight I went to replace the flint on a few I have from the first order and the screw doesn't access a tube at all. I returned to the page and read the description, you have to pry the wheel out to access the spring and remove the paper thin peice of flint these were manufactured with then hope it snaps back together without breaking it or losing the little peices under the wheel taking it apart. I wish I'd just bought my coworkers Bic lighters or torch lighters with a quartz igniter. They would have lasted longer. The whole point of a reusable lighter is the ease of filling with fuel and changing flints. This design is a deliberate attempt at forcing you to buy more, if you are stupid enough to want more of them. BTW, when I said "paper thin flints" that's exactly what they are. The lighters I attempted to reflint were only refilled twice each. A standard sized Zippo flint can last years before being replaced. Talk about CHEAP!

LOVE LOVE LOVE these lighters! I will buy them over and over again. I tend to lose them before they stop working… so that is a bonus I guess. I’ve only had one act up, and that was easily fixed with a pair of pliers and I just squeezed the spot where you replace the flint back into a tighter position. Since these don’t come with an emergency shut off or anything, you’ll want to be careful and mindful that you shut the fuel off prior to setting it down because you will regret it if you don’t. Seriously, these can be really dangerous if you aren’t careful ensuring the fuel is shut off!

Superb lighter and a great meshing of newer and older technology. They have a flint striker with a torch flame. Great idea because my piezo igniter always is the first thing to break in just about every lighter I have owned . Using a flint striker was a genius idea . They don't break just replace the flint and you are good to go. No more broker lighters .great size and colors available .

I have been buying these lighters for years and have watched the quality go down hill. The fuel tanks rupture even when not filled all the way. I will be finding a different option for the future.
