The Bass Egg is a portable, rechargeable device that turns everyday objects into robust speaker systems. Unlike a traditional speaker, the Bass Egg has no speaker cone. Instead, it transduces vibrations into everyday objects, turning your world into a speaker. The bigger the object, the bigger the sound! A wood dining table... a cooler at the beach... the hood of your car... you name it! The result? Deep, rich, full-range sound.

Great sound out of a small package
I was intrigued with the idea of a coneless speaker, yet I've heard of so many cool ideas that simply could not deliver. Boy was I wrong with Bass Egg! What an experience opening and playing with it the first few hours!- (Neutral) Opening was a bit uninspiring and definitely minimalistic with the design. I'm fine with this since all Apple products are like this.- (Pro) The instructions were simple with a bit of humor- (Pro) It literally is just the Bass Egg and the power/direct-line cable in the box- (Con) It's not pre-charged, so you gotta plugin immediatelyThe fun is experimenting with different objects and showing it off to other geeky friends! For such a small device, it sure packs a punch. Yes, it's no high-end speaker system like Bose, but you're also not going to break the bank and surely miles (or km) above the sound from typical portable speakers of the same size!First off, in layman's terms this device produces sound by vibrating the object you place bass egg on. Different objects will produce different sounds, but generally, the bigger the object, the louder the sound! I've found the best objects to be hollow wooden objects that act like a resonating chamber. Here were my top household objects:- My daughter's wooden play piano (Think Lionel from Charlie Brown)- A dresser (lots of drawers for the sound to bounce)- On the bathroom door (it would be really loud from the inside of the bathroom)- A coat closet doorI should also note that because this object resonates the entire object, the sound is omni-directional; versus a traditional speaker with a cone is directional. You could literally walk up to a window or door and scare the crap out of anyone on the other side. Not that I've tried ;-)

Great while it works until it doesn't ...
I will start out by saying this little speaker packs a powerful sound. When I bought it earlier in the year I was really excited. Unfortunately the speaker no longer works. A faint sound passes through but that's it. Normally I can be understanding as things like this can happen and with a great company and customer service all could be well again. This was not the case. I have emailed and called customer service. No response to email and the customer service phone line is useless!! All it is is an answering machine that says to leave a message. Let me tell you no matter how many messages or emails a person sends this company will not respond. In my book that is enexcusable! At $100 dollars one would think you are getting a great product followed by a stellar customer service. They don't apparently believe in resolving matters. If your speaker works....great. If it dies you will be like me who basically just flushed 100 bucks down the toilet. I give this product ZERO stars for lack of consumer help or concern. I will most emphatically say that you should NOT buy this speaker. Find a reputable company that stands behind its product because this one surely doesn't !!!

This is a Great little speaker
I really love this. It's fun to watch people when you put it down on something while playing a song. Definitely a keeper. Sound quality varies depending upon the material it is placed on. To me solid wood sounds the best, but still experimenting. One point that might be a concern for some people is that it doesn't have any independent volume control beyond what volume the phone (iPhone 5) sends, which depending upon the material it is placed on is more than enough for me.

Great Product
For the size of this product, it puts out some descent sound. It certainly depends on the surface that you set it on. If you are an audiophile, it may not meet your expectations for accuracy, but for portable Bluetooth speakers, it's great. It may be a little heavy for its size, but it is needed as it is mostly battery and magnet. The Bluetooth connectivity is easy to operate. The speaker battery life is truly from 4-10 hours depending on volume. Best surfaces so far: kitchen table, wood desk, whiteboard, glass security window. You can try it on any surface with a flat area. The better connection with the surface, the better the sound. So far so good.

Amazing Sound, Fun to Play With
Bought this for my brother, who is a techie kind of guy, and now I want one for myself. It's fun to stick it against diferent types of materials and see what "plays" the best. We have found that glass (the bigger the piece the better it does) seems to do the best in our opinion, with solid wood furniture (like a dining table) coming in a close second.
