Thought I would miss a cross guard piece but the way it's designed no problem. Should have got this years ago. Oh, and the steel is awesome I believe Krupp 4119 Stainless-- seems very lively and has a nice ping sound when struck with hard object unlike many other stainless steel knife blades. Very sharp. I have worn this on my waist weekly for the last 2 years. I tend to look after my gear and have removed handle slabs to treat surface rust and oiled the sheath regularly, not only do I sling nets on land a real test for steel cutting sand filled rope but also its always wet when I am at sea.Sooooo- Rivets in leather appear to be steel!!! They rust out.-For a stainless steel the heavy blade holds an edge as good as you could hope, but you must wash and dry after its been in salt, it forms more of a tarnish than a true rust but definitely ruins the edge;-I have no problem honing it up on a waterstone, not unduly hard.-I'd suggest a better/harder material for the handle, and the sheath design could be better but the knife is a workhorse and you cant break it, I haven't found better for marine use.-Note I have replaced the rivets and stitching in photo.
