and for some reason I like to go camping during hurricane season
Texas here, and for some reason I like to go camping during hurricane season. More than a few times now, I've taken this tent out to open fields, and ended up taking on torrential rain and high winds. Staked correctly, this tent really holds up. I always scotch guard and seam seal all new tents I buy before they ever hit the camp grounds, but after inspecting every inch of this tent, I have to say I'm happy with the construction. The mesh in the (3) doors is attached well, and put up with a fair amount of abuse one particularly drunk weekend. There is a vent at the top that allows for good air circulation, and even my friends who cant sleep without a fan on seem to fall asleep pretty easy. A substantial bathtub bottom means you might trip trying to get out while intoxicated, but no rising waters, or particularly nasty field spiders are going to come creeping in like they own the place. It's great for the price.

Arrived ahead of schedule - first impressions.
First impressions - this arrived one day ahead of the first predicted delivery date - so five stars on the shipping.1. Out of the box, looked over seams and materials. Hardly expedition quality, but definitely on par with anything you are going to find in the local sporting goods store or Wal-Mart.2. If you haven't already figured it out, this tent is very large. 10 persons might be a tight fit, but 6 could sleep in this with no issues what-so-ever,3. First time set up, there were no instructions, but for the most part fairly intuitive. Poles are all the same length and the clips attaching them to the tent body are strong and simple. Seems like if you just line up all the clips so there is no twisting etc. the tent goes together pretty easily. One important tip. Make sure that the doors are unzipped when setting up, that way you can stand in the open doorway and clip the center clips more easily.4. Once up, the tent body appears to be much more stable and strong than most of the standard car-camping tents. The three doors all have two way zippers and separate no-see-um mesh doors. The zippers are OK, not bullet-proof, but seem to be decent quality. The vents on the top of the fly can be sealed in the up or down position. I am 5-10 and was able (barely) to reach them from the open door and adjust them without too much trouble. The fly goes all the way to ground, I think I am going to need a couple of gallons of seam sealer to get it ready for weather though!5. There is only one small storage pocket at floor level. Perhaps big enough to hold a wallet or headlamp, but maybe not both. It probably would have been better to just leave off the pocket entirely. The sight of this giant of a tent with this little bitty pocket is almost embarrassing! So far I have only set this up, and have not yet used it, but that is sure to come. I'll update this as things develop. For the price, I am definitely not disappointed - will update or add new reviews as I get more experience with the tent.OK - first weekend out with this monster tent -1. Seam sealing - after a thorough inspection, it turns out that the seams on the tent fly actually appear to be taped! I still sealed some weak spots, but overall impressed by this detail.2. Set up tent in Orilla Verde in Northern New Mexico - a little breezy at first. Once setup and staked down, winds to about 20 mph and the tent body was solid as a rock. The doors are a little awkward and difficult to deal with as they really need to be completely zipped down for entry/exit. There are no vestibules to speak of, just enough to keep shoes dry outside of the tent. I would expect entry in the rain to be problematic - will probably look into some sort of canopy butted up against the door to provide a sheltered place to take off coats and boots before entry.3. Overnight, sadly, no serious weather to report, but zero condensation problemsOverall, very impressed with the build and strength. There are some weak points, but I think they can be easily reinforced. Expect this tent to last several years.

I had high hopes for this being a good all season tent
I had high hopes for this being a good all season tent, but on my first use found a few critical flaws. The floor of the tent is not heavy duty enough, we had a day of rain and over time water that got between the ground tarp and the floor would seep in. There were no leaks but the floor material is not sufficient to stop water from creating damp spots and over time water droplets. The other issue is the quality of the zippers, they are not heavy duty enough. You have to make sure there is little or no tension on the zippers otherwise they will split. Finally, one of the poles split, I'm not sure why as there was no unusual pressure put on them, but when we took it down my son noticed one had split at the end. It should still be usable, but will likely fail over time.Overall, not worth the $299 price tag, you can get better tents for less.
