Like Where's Waldo for Star Wars Geeks
The absolutely byzantine level of detail in these illustrations is remarkable to view in such a large format. Just like how Lucas wanted his vehicles to look "used" and "worn out" for his first 3 films these drawings have plenty of that "lived in" look that draw your eyes over all the little doodads behind the metal skins. As an engineer I love technical drawings and I really get a kick out of seeing how these fictional craft can have their internals look so "purposeful". The real life technical illustration field is tough enough when working from real objects and so I am impressed by the amount of creativity required to invert so much "how and why" detail. You can see how the form and function were intertwined to give these designs plausible suspension of disbelief. For example, even though there are no shields in our real world, the way the emitters are located and shaped in these drawings causes you to envision how they "work" in an intuitive way. You can see the power conduits feeding them and see how they outline the profile of the ships. The section at the end of the book where the illustrators show how the drawings go from pencil sketch to painting is fascinating and awe inspiring in this age of overwhelming CGI.I only had one of the previous cross section books so for me the value of this title was a no-brainer. If you already own the others then it boils down to having them in a single volume and if that is worth it for you.My only gripe is on the fold out illustrations. They are really almost too wide to allow easy use. I'd rather see the folds be vertical where the two open pages are joined across the top and fold upwards into more of a square. There have been a few books on NASA and spaceflight done this way and the result was better in my opinion because the folded out section supported itself. This landscape style foldout, while allowing a very wide image make the pages flop around more than I'd like for such thin paper.

Really good condition for the price!
Book was in really good condition for the price. The outer cover had a few wear marks and one of the foldouts was creased but that was it. Shipped promptly - good service

All four previous book + more
I have loved these cross-section books since even before these came out (seen a cool Star Trek OS cutout of the Enterprise). What you are getting with this volume is every entry in the previous four cross-section books as well as some extras. That's right. Even if you have all four original books you are still not getting everything. This book adds cross-section entries for the TIE Bomber, TIE Advanced (something only touched on in the original trilogy cross-section), A-Wing Fighter, B-Wing Fighter, and the Imperial Shuttle. That's roughly half the vehicles you would find on a regular cross-section book added to this volume. On top of that you get a forward by both artists/writers talking about the fun they had making the books. So what does that mean? Well if you have never gotten a Star Wars Incredible Cross-Sections book this is the one to get. You get ALL of the vehicles fromt he previous books plus another 1/2 book's worth of exclusive material. If you don't quite have all of the previous books then I say get this one at the price of a regular book (shouldn't be hard at all). If you don't have the original trilogy book that makes the purchase that much more sweet as that's where the new material is.If you have the complete collection then you have to make a choice. Do you buy the book, thus get the extra ships and more shelf space? Do you complain to Lucas for the double dipping? Personally I am one of those people with the complete set and figured I didn't need the new book, however I really, really love the B-Wing and relished the idea of having a view of its innards so I got it. I'm pretty pleased with the purchase, and besides I was able to sell my old books to recoup some of what I spent.

Informative and Beautiful
If you've ever wondered about the layouts of any of the vehicles/ships in Star Wars for any reason, get this book. The art is fantastic. You also get a brief history and other interesting facts about ship design and the roles they play. The information is very condensed, but efficiently. It's a large book. Not thick, but high and wide to display the art.The only reason I docked it one star is because not EVERY vehicle is given this treatment. The art for the large transport ship carrying the rebels off of Hoth, protected by the giant ion cannon, in Episode V is in the inside cover of the book... covered up by other text and not actually featured. The bus Anakin and Padme take to the space port when they're leaving Coruscant for Naboo in Episode II, as well as the transport they take to Naboo, aren't featured. A minor omission but I did wanna see them.

but glosses over the Imperial 1 Class Star Destroyer and omits the Super Star Destroyer
While no longer officially canon as far as I know, the book gives minute details about the most obtuse things in craft from the movies. It doesn't cover the Clone Wars tv series vehicles. I did find it odd how they went into gross details about the speeder car Anakin drove during his chase of Zam Wesell (as well as a detailed breakdown of her vehicle), but glosses over the Imperial 1 Class Star Destroyer and omits the Super Star Destroyer, Executor completely.Great book though with loads of nerd facts and minutia. Loved the double page love they gave to the B-Wing and the open gatefolds they gave some of the larger vessels. I highly recommend to any Star Wars fan. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star review was for its uneven detailing from vehicle to vehicle.

Beautiful
A compilation of 6 star wars movies vehicle crossections with detailed old canon information, a treat to anyone amazed by the ship designs shown in the movies. This book and the 'The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels' are basically a bible for star wars vehicles.

Incredibly worthwhile book
This is probably one of my favourite books, if not the one favourite. As a huge fan of Star Wars vehicular and technological lore, I am awe struck every time I open this book and see just how incredibly detailed the images, annotations, and background segments are. This book is a true treasure trove of a publication.Honestly, the amount of work that has gone into this book, and the amount of information inside, I would be happy to pay even twice it's asking price. The diagrams are just so extensive and they truly immerse you in a sense of suspension of disbelief. I don't have a favourite cross-section diagram in this book as they're all just so dang good!If you're on the fence about buying a Star Wars book, buy it, for sure. For the price it's a true bargain. Whether you're just a casual fan of George Lucas' universe, a die-hard anorak like I am, or just someone with a fascination in technical things and precise diagrams, you will enjoy this book. Perfect present for any guy (or even girl) really.

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MOENY!!!
This was everything you could want.Lovingly (neigh, obsessively) drawn illustrations that just go on and on.Cards on the table, I don't imagine kids will really appreciate this. Gentlemen, this is produced firmly with us in mind. By all means buy it 'for the kids' but it's a book on how things that don't exist might work if they did exist - so it's basically another volume of the Encyclopaedia Nerdannica. You need a whole day to really do this justice.Fab.Buy it.Buy it now!

Brilliant book
This is an excellent book for any fans of the Star Wars franchise. I bought this for my son's birthday but have enjoyed looking through the fantastic cut out sections and reading the descriptions. I thought the quality of the hardback book with foldout pages was particularly good. If your a star wars geek like myself or just love them old books of cut out sections of battleships, you will love this book.

An anorak in space???
Ok, this book really panders to the anorak in me. All those tweeky details that matter not a jot that still have a strange attraction.Kudos to the folk who took the time to think logically and imaginatively to fill up the spaces inside the eye candy.Super artwork, fantastic attention to detail.

Nostalgia
I used to own the original series incredible cross sections as a child however, I ended up spilling an entire bottle of Coke over it and completely ruined it. When I saw this on offer I had to buy it. All my old favourites are still there combined with the new films' ships. The drawings are fantastic and incredibly detailed. So much fun to spend a few hours going through the microscopic detail! A must have for Star Wars fans!
