The one I have been using was purchased at Staples and larger, has old time keys that require a lot of travel, and generally is cheap and frustrating. I sprang for this one that is actually cheaper in price than the one I have been using and couldn't be happier. I like the compact design after using the keyboard on my laptop for so many years, and especially the keys on it that are larger, flatter, and much more like the one on the actually lap top that I was so used too. Setting this up was a breeze. Even with my old laptop I just plugged it in and less than 10 seconds later it was hot...As mentioned before in some other reviews, the num lock is activated with every boot up, as well as when first plugging it in. But that was easily remedied by pressing the FN plus NUM-LCK key at the same time as was suggested. As for it being a plug in, with the set up I have here that isn't any problem since the cord on it just falls behind the table and never in the way. I prefer it over a wireless that needs batteries and can sometimes lose the connection. One last thing. The feet on this are of a nice rubber that really keep it held in place. My other keyboard had so called footing on it but left a lot to be desired. I even added a non skid pads to my other one and it still wasn't as good as this is. I own a 2015 MacBook Pro, and have the Apple wireless keyboard. My main issue is sometimes the keyboard doesn't pair, and of course, Apple DGAF about its customers, so would probably tell me "that's a feature" and then offer to sell me a bent iPad. Anyway... here are my criteria: 1.) Slim keyboard design - My use does not require a dedicated number pad, which puts the mouse uncomfortably to the right. The Perixx keyboard is the same size as my previous Apple keyboard - check 2.) USB-connected - I am pretty much done with relying on Bluetooth for frequently-used devices. I have 3.5mm headphones (thank you, Samsung Galaxy S9) which have never failed to pair. I have an external Bluetooth speaker with a USB connection option that has never failed. I have a USB mouse that has never failed. The Perixx keyboard just needs a regular ol' USB port and works fine with MacOS or Windows (has Windows keys that function as the 'Apple' key). I have now turned my Bluetooth radio off and am a happier, more rounded individual for it. check 3.) It has a dedicated Delete key that actually functions like a Delete key is supposed to function. Not the "we know what's better for you" Apple keyboard with Delete key that is actually a Backspace key and requires a Fn modifier to use it as what it's called. check 4.) The Perixx keyboard is beautifully designed and has good key travel. I am pleased with it. Why I bought it: I was looking for a wired keyboard that matched the keyboard layout of my Dell XPS 15 laptop. I wanted to be able to use that kind of layout with any computer (like my work computer) and I also wanted a keyboard that didn't take up a lot of desk space. After some searching, it came down to this or the Genius i200 Keyboard. This keyboard was about $5+ cheaper and they are sooo alike anyway, so I went ahead and got this one instead. Thanks for making it affordable, Perixx :)! Pros: Reasonably priced and works without any issues. Light and compact - It's very easy to put in my laptop backpack to take to work and back. Cord length is long enough for me. Good set of "media/function" keys. Cons: Keys are not as soft as my Dell XPS's keyboard :(. This keyboard'd keys feel rather clicky/plasticy. Also, they are a tiny bit smaller than my Dell XPS keyboard's keys and raised a bit more, so for me, they feel a bit too far apart.
