I bought it primarily because of the simple dial. I thought the higher price would mean better quality, but now I think it is overpriced and overy complicated. I didn't realize that they give you a couple of "conditioning pads" (like a thin paper thing) that you have to rub it on before it can work. I also didn't realize that it dosen't work unless it goes a certain depth. The tip is fat enough that it just doesn't work well in our hard and rocky soil.
