An emotional journey through motherhood and trauma
This is not the kind of book I normally read, or at least I didn't until recently. I was originally drawn to it because of the mention of sea glass in the description. I used to collect it as a kid and felt a bit of a connection to the story from that.I can't relate to the motherhood aspect, obviously, or the feelings of parenthood in general, but I can imagine wanting to be fiercely protective of a child, and this story is as much about that as it is about surviving emotional trauma.I didn't particularly care for the paranormal aspects of the story, the visions, premonitions or special powers, but they did fuel the story and allow the main characters to share a different kind of connection than readers are generally used to. I also don't think I've read the words "my fault" or "your fault" more in any novel I've ever read, but much of the trauma stems from abuse, so I guess that comes with the territory.Honestly, while I can't find major faults with the story, which is as much about finding and redeeming love as it is about the horrible things that might make us run away from it in the first place, I might have been more tempted to give it 3.5 stars, but I thought the audiobook reading by Dara Rosenberg added gravitas to some of the dialogue and emotion.I don't think this a book for everybody, but I do think there is a certain group of people that will thoroughly enjoy it.

A beachy paranormal romance
Paranormal light romance that takes place in a beach town. It is a wonderful "Happy Ending" story. Paranormal as in premonitions/ visions, auras, compulsion and empathy.

Great novel
I truly enjoyed this story, well planted and executed. I listened to the audio version and narrator did very well in my opinion.

Love a great love story!
This book pulled me in quickly and I was fully invested through the last page. I love the premise and the characters. I LOVED the setting. The relationship between Molly and Owen couldn't have been written better. I loved them and their story. I also got great joy out of Cassie and Owen's relationship. The author did an amazing job with these characters. I feel like her love of the characters really shows in this book.****************Some spoilers below.****************I hold a star back on my review because as I read, the main character, Molly, often became obtuse and a little annoying. If someone I trust tells me they believe my grandmother is dying, I'm going to find out what's going on NOW. I'm not going to put it off or let anything else interfere with finding out the truth. I feel like important talks and important information was withheld or delayed throughout the book on purpose to prolong the story when it didn't need to be. There is plenty of story in this book. There was plenty to keep me interested without using plot tricks to keep me hanging on and I feel like the 'drowning' and 'choking' bit was a trick. As a reader, I didn't need the revelation that "OMG! Cassie never said I would drown." I came to that conclusion on my own, it didn't need to be said. The visions where suggestive and Cassie never got the entire vision since she didn't have the dreams, we readers understood that without the over dramatic OMG moment. That being said, I would have believed this ending better without the 'misunderstanding'. It would have been a little more realistic if Molly would have just admitted to being confused. As I read, I imagined a million other scenarios for the outcome of Cassie's visions and while I think choking was a good alternative, I take issue with the way it was presented and resolved.I'm still very much a fan of Kerry Lonsdale, and I must admit, the soulmate aspect of this book really pulled me in. Well done!

A very awesome book cover
San Luis Obispo, CA. Molly Poppy Brennan (mother, Art Professor, Cuesta College, history, Jewelry Arts & Design College, LA, CA) was called to the school.Principal Jane Harrison let Molly know about the incident that occurred with her daughter Cassidy โCassieโ Brennan (8).She suggested a psychologist.Grace Kaling (Cassieโs BFF) had been in a car/bicycle accident & is now in the hospital.Alice Kaling (Graceโs mother) said she is recovering.Flashback: Nana Mary Dwyer (grandma) told Molly her father Brad (U of Minnesota, alcoholic) had been run over & died. What was Nana keeping from her family? Will Owen be able to save Enrique?I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written family fictional memoir book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great family oriented movie, or better yet a mini TV series. It was just OK for me so I will rate it at 4/5 stars.Thank you for the free Lake Union Publishing; Amazon Digital Services LLC; bookTony Parsons MSW (Washburn)

Highly unique, Highly engaging, Highly recommended...
Over the summer I read my first Kerry Lonsdale book "Everything We Keep" and really enjoyed it so I was pleased to stumble upon "All the Breaking Waves" and what a wonderful book it turned out to be.This book is about Molly and her daughter Cassie. The women in the family have psychic abilities that Molly had been taught to repress. When her daughter Cassie starts showing her abilities, Molly takes Cassie home to her Nana for help with her daughter. Molly is terrified about the emotional well being of her daughter with this gift which can have her writhing in pain as she is dream-experiencing future events that are often traumatic. On top of all this, Molly's first love Owen still lives next door to her Nana so their is a sweet romance.Ultimately, this story is of a mother's love for her daughter, a rekindled first love, and of a deep love for family. I will avoid posting spoilers, but this is such a good book about the sacrifices a person will make when they feel guilt, love and responsibility for past actions and future events in the lives of those around them. Kerry Lonsdale writes so you feel the story deeply.Kerry writes at the end of the novel that this was a "follow up" book to her debut novel "Everything We Keep." While there are some similarities between the novels, this is definitely a stand alone and I did not make many comparisons at any time while reading this novel - so if you haven't read the former you are safe. Highly Unique, Highly engaging, Highly Recommended...
