CPU Air Cooler Heat Sink with Fan Compatible with Dell XPS 8940 / G5 5090 / Optiplex 7080MT Desktop VWD01

Because Dell implements proprietary mounting hardware in their cases, ordering this cooler is necessary to yield the maximum output of your CPU. I have an I9 in my XPS 8940 which would reach upwards of 80-90c under normal load. After installing this cooler it dropped down to 60-70c. The cooler comes with thermal paste pre applied but I replaced it with my own. My only gripe is that it is a little smaller (smaller fan too) compared to other coolers on the market but it gets the job done.

Huge temp decrease on my cpu and ram. Using this in a makeshift home server. Has dropped temps significantly and was very easy to mount. I was even using very high profile ram (corsair vengeance RGB PRO) that I salvaged from an old build and there was no spacing issues what-so-ever. Would recommend and is at a great price point.

Did not find it lowered CPU temps but it did lower case temps by moving air towards the echaust fan vs into the case everywhere.I put a noctua fan in it and it is silent.

I have had my Dell XPS 8940 for a few years now and recently it started locking up on me a few times a day. After doing system tests and everything passing, I downloaded HWiNFO64 and noticed that my CPU temperature was in the red quite frequently (sometimes over 100 degrees Celsius if I had a lot of programs running). I ordered this CPU fan, with some thermal paste. The install was easy and the computer has not locked up once since installing. The average CPU temperature dropped 20 degrees Celsius!

I was having issues with the CPU (Core i7 4970) temperatures in a Dell XPS 8700. Was told that this cooler was more efficient, so purchased and installed it. Sure enough, CPU operating temperatures are now 15 to 20 degrees lower. A fast and economical improvement.

I probably would have given 5 stars but it didn't fit my Dell XPS-8700. Now understand, the page didn't say it would fit my Dell. But several reviews said it worked great in theirs. So based on that I bought it only to return it the next day. So I'm here to say this absolutely does not fit a Dell XPS-8700.

Installed in a Dell XPS8940. Cooler was easy to install. No additional thermal paste was needed because the cooler comes with paste already on the CPU contact surface. Runs very quiet. Dropped CPU temp. 15 C degrees when CPU is at 100% load. The original factory cooler had temps in the low to mid 90's and this cooler has temps in the mid to upper 70's.

Doesn't look like much but this is much better than the stock cooler. My 10700 went from hitting 100C to 77C with this. Still warm but I'm not thermal throttling and doesn't sound like a jet engine.
