This is a completely unique piece- a vintage book in appearance, this is actually a wood box which is wood-burned and hand-decorated. The "spine" opens into a drawer- perfect for jewelry, trinkets or any other keepsakes! The front appears to be the "book that started it all"- Tolkien's "The Hobbit". On it we have Bilbo Baggins, taking his trip and meeting the river elves, going by the mountains and forests so far from Hobbiton. The title and author are gold, and nestles in a dragon, shield and knot-work border are the silhouettes of Gandalf leading the expedition. The spine is simple but fitting- a dragon spreading its wings in front of a red star painted on gold. The back is particularly cool- it shows Bilbo JUST making it out of Smaug's lair, encountering the beast and learning his one weakness. The whole thing is sprayed with a glossy, protective finish. This is an absolutely wonderful piece for any fan of literature, Tolkien or the Lord of the Rings. Would make a great gift for yourself or for someone else! Thanks for looking!
