## Description

Ideal for creating patterns, details and drawings on textiles, this resist holds a crisp line without spreading and does not shrink or pucker when dry.

Review: Works nearly perfectly - This resist gets 5 stars for ease of use, quality, and easy removal. Although transferring from the bottle to smaller applicators is challenging (I wish it was in a jar) and a bit messy. It goes on the silk easily and effortlessly with minimal to no spreading. It does take a while to dry completely, but it makes excellent lines that I’ve not penetrated with dye even though I have gotten a little on the resist lines. As some folks have mentioned, it does pucker the fabric some, especially thicker lines, but I haven’t noticed it affecting its resistant qualities or affecting how the dyes act. It’s easy to remove, even after steaming, just rubbing off in cold water with a little silk detergent. Overall, it’s a tremendous product and I don’t have to mess with toxic chemicals or worry about environmental problems from washing this down the sink, which should not be done with Resistad.
Review: Messy, But works well - This was a bit of a mess to use. It got everywhere. But: it absolutely worked. Gave me a reasonably crisp line between the dye and undyed fabric. Washed out nicely after dyeing. Overall, very happy.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Would this be affective on paper?**
A: No, the resist is very liquid and will soak into the paper. You could try using a colorless wax crayon or plain candle wax. This coats the surface of the paper and allows for resisting of dye to some degree. Then the wax can be ironed off with a paper towel soaking up the melted wax. The problem with using a resist on paper is there is a chance the dye, paint or whatever you are using can seep through the paper if the paper is not heavy like a 140# or 300# watercolor paper. This could allow the dye to migrate into the wax resisted area from the back if the paper is not heavy enough to block such action. You can try regular masking fluid made for watercolors on paper. Apply this, allow it to dry and then apply your dye or paint. Then the masking fluid rubs off with your fingers, much like rubber cement. Masking fluid will dry and clog up anything you use to apply it with (such as a brush or dipping pen), so watching a YouTube on how to apply masking fluid would be helpful before you try and use it. The advantage to using masking fluid is it creates a solid resist barrier, paint or dye cannot leak through it, and the masking fluid dries on the surface of the paper so it will peel off when you're done. In other words the masking fluid does not soak down into the paper fibers. But this is only going to work on an art worthy paper, not copy paper and probably not construction paper. The paper has to have some body to it in order for the masking fluid to work properly.

**Q: this product serves to what???**
A: Resist is used to draw the borders of an image in silk, stopping the flow of dye at the resist lines. Transparent.

**Q: Does this work on cotton?**
A: It worked beautifully on silk and on the art paper underneath. I think it should work on cotton fabric too, but have not tried it yet.

**Q: Can I use it on watercolor paper?**
A: I don’t see why not!

*by A***R on October 9, 2016*

I just used this tonight and it worked as advertised! Perfectly crisp lines after painting with Dye-Na-Flow paint. The only downfall that I would say this product has is that after it has been applied, the line work changes slightly. When I used this, I drew out all of my lines, but they all ended up pooling where they met. Perhaps I need a thinner applicator tip, but I imagine that it would happen even if I used a thinner one. I was painting on a Jacquard 100% silk scarf.
