Rhem 4 - PC

I was unfamiliar with the Rhem series, but picked this up after searches for games like Obduction, Myst, The Room, and the like had repeated recommendations for it. If you're reading this while doing a similar search, stop now and look elsewhere.This game is quite underwhelming. It's a 6-year old game, but the graphics (textures and resolution) are 20 years old. That's not entirely a deal-breaker, but every door, hall, and platform looked the same. There's no story or characters to follow. It really felt like one of those 99-cent or free 'escape the room' games on phone/tablet.There ARE puzzles, and they're pretty standard. Nothing too hard to figure out unless you miss a cursor-change (indicating action or direction to look). And that's all this game really is: a bunch of puzzles, going back and forth with the next piece of solution over and over. There's a picture-taking notebook included, but I preferred using my own paper for notes, as it was also needed to map out the bland repetitive rooms & routes.Rhem 4 isn't awful. If you just want low-graphic puzzles, this should keep you busy for about 3 hours. If you want an adventure, keep looking.

I usually love these types of games and have played the original Rhem. Rhem 4 was extremely difficult and I would not recommend for the casual player. Unless you play the game nonstop it is hard to keep track of everything. You need to keep extensive notes on everything you see, the game will let you save some items but no where near as much as you will need. There are clues at the beginning that you wouldn't need until much later in the game. There are no short cuts so if you didn't write down something you later realize you need you will be running around a lot! Many of the puzzles didn't make much sense even after completed and some were just too difficult. Maybe just me but the compass seemed backward, to me an arrow pointing down indicates south but the game seemed to be north and directions didn't seem to match from one puzzle to another. The only way I made it to the end was by using an online walkthru, a lot! Three stars because it has good graphics, ran smooth, and at least it wasn't another hidden object game.

This game isn't to bad. I had just a bit of readjustment to make on my monitor to display it right, but once that was done it ran great. (For those interested, the game gives you two choices of playing as far as the display is concerned. One, full screen and another in a box centered on the center of the screen. This is fine but on my monitor switching to full screen placed the picture over to the left hand side of the monitor up to the left corner and I had to adjust the monitor to center the screen. Not a problem as I have a monitor that saves a number of presets for just such a problem.) Anyway, once you've got that done, if you have that problem, then the game plays great. I found the puzzles challenging without being to hard and I really enjoyed playing. Not a bad game. Really worth playing thru.

Rhem4 is an old puzzle game akin to Myst. I enjoyed Myst when I played it years ago so I decided to give Rhem4 a try. The graphics are not so great but, the puzzles are fun to solve.

After buying the download version of Rhem 1- Rhem 3, I found this Add-on that really peaked my interest. I am so enjoying playing Rhem 1 so far, and I know that when I get to Part 4 that it will be as great a game as the first three parts. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I can always REDOWNLOAD ANY game I buy that is a DOWNLOAD version, which is nice to know in case of a Computer glitch ( or one too many Cats paws on my keyboard when I am not looking ) to cause me to lose what I have. Thanks Amazon for providing that SAFETY NET for your customers !

The puzzles are always challenging in the RHEM series and this is no exception. Trying to run this on fairly new Windows 8 build. It only plays at a low resolution, 800x600, and I have not been able to find anything to adjust this. It is not the computer since it can run high end 3D CAD programs and other games at high resolution with no problems.

Rhem 4 is terrific--a reliable progress through a maze of logistical puzzles. It lacks the deep intuitive sense of theearly MYST games. [Maybe in Rhem 5? Please consider a villain and a chase and the solving of crises.] Until then,we have a marvelous logic narrative of bridges, colors, engines, patterns. Thank you! [oh...I had to use a walkthrougha few times.]

My wife is a gamer, and really loves puzzle type games such as Myst. Based on the Rhem 4 product description and other reviews, I got her this just on a whim.She took to it right away. The puzzles are challenging, to say the least. They test your logical thinking and problem solving. The graphics are pretty good, and the sound effects are appropriate and really not too overbearing. She has probably had over 100 computer puzzle type games over the past 20 years or so. She said this was certainly one of the ten best. It is a big game with lots to explore and some tricky twists and turns, but isn't that the whole point?

This is the fourth installment of RHEM and it is as good as I expected it would be. The graphics are even better and the puzzles are more entriguing. I started with Rhem2 and before I finished it I was able to obtain both RHEM and RHEM3. Due to the production delays in producing the DVD version of RHEM4 I was unable to wait, and had to purchase an on-line version. So far I have enjoyed about 30 hours of playing over the course of a month and think I am very near the end. For anyone puchasing the game I recommend you get a pad of graph paper before you start. You will need it. Unless you are really good at making notes, a pencil and eraser will also help. Enjoy!PS. I still plan to buy a copy to add to my collection.

Arrived today, and so far running just fine on my laptop. I bought and played the first RHEM game many years ago and it was extremely difficult...this one is just as challenging!

I have put this in my DVD player many times hoping to see or get something. Nothing happens. I am not sure if the UK company is just trying to get rid of its faulty DVDs and so Canadian customers are easily deceived as the cost of shipping back to them is prohibitive compared to what you pay for it.
