Worth every penny!
The price may seem steep at first glance, but it's so worth every penny. Kazoo is ad-free. So, instead of your daughter being bombarded with ads about her hair, face, makeup, and clothes, she only sees high-quality, fun, informative, self-affirming articles that pique her curiosity and tap into her creativity. As more readers subscribe and buy, the magazine will be able to print larger quantities and get better bulk print rates, which would reduce costs. But, to get to that point, we have to decide that our girls are worth a $50 investment. My girl actually completed the projects and experiments in Issue 01. We did them together as a family, and surprisingly, my preschooler most successfully predicted which items would sink or float. We all learned to build a raft, and we used our newfound interest in constellations to observe the night sky and the super moon.Sure, Girls Life and other girl-centric magazines are way cheaper, but our girls pay for it. If my $50/yr helps more publishers realize that girls are defined by more than their shiny hair, toned midriff, perfect cat eye, and quest for a boyfriend, then I'm happy to contribute. For me, $50 a year is a small price to pay to make sure my daughter isn't constantly subjected to this foolishness. Boys Should Read Kazoo, Too
A big problem with boys is that they don't seem to know how to go about seeing the complete girl; how to care enough and respect enough to know why girls are just as smart, inventive, creative and inquisitive as they are (and, often times, more so)--which is to say: boys would do well to start reading Kazoo, a magazine that supports girls, helps them become more aware of their place in the world, and offers them ways to communicate with their brains and their hearts--something boys will appreciate someday if and when they decide to grow up.

Great inspiration for girls
My 8 year old loves this magazine, she reads it cover to cover and gets really excited when it comes. It's a little expensive but that's because there are NO ADS! And without pressure from clothing and makeup companies, there is no pressure to show how girls "ought to be". So this magazine shows how girls are not what society thinks they should look like, and says they can do whatever they want. Many of the articles and projects come from professional women doing the activity as their career. There are projects from women chefs, engineers, biologists, etc. It also has arts and crafts, music, etc. So it's not dictating what girls should like, just offering great content on what real girls actually do like.

It's a Hit
Wonderful! Just received our first issue, my daughter loves it! This is a far cry from tween magazines that focus on looks, celebrities, and material things. It's exciting to see how engaged she is in the actives and ideas in this magazine.
