It does start recording whe someone or sonething get too close or it is bumped. It use very little power. You do need to changed you recording card to 32 or more. **Q: I need parking mode. Will it drain the battery?** A: Good afternoon Their is a special Cable you need to get from GARMIN that you would install that provides power from the Car when the ignition is in the off position. The on board GARMIN battery will not support the park mode If you have the Parking mode cable installed, and assuming that your car battery is in good shape you should have no issues with your car battery discharging.
