I read this to my granddaughters kindergarten class and they loved it

Informational, in an unexpected way. The author uses a unique approach when including facts about guinea pigs into the storyline. The facts are sprinkled throughout the book in a non-demanding tone, with explinations on WHY the guinea pig made this noise or did what he did. This book is an EXCEPTIONAL read for people of ALL AGES! The message that you find out at the end of the story is a sweet one. It's so very important for owners of guinea pigs, especially if you own just one. This book is wonderful! It's a perfect read for any pet lover, and reminds children and adults alike about the importance of knowing your pets needs, especially their social ones- like needing love and attention.My children are 9, 7, & 6 years old and ALL of us absolutely adore this book. It's been read at least once a day for the past two weeks, And they even read it on video so Grandma & Grandpa could enjoy the book as well.You will love the story too- a MUST for any pet or guinea pig lover!

I just bought this book for my daughter. We love this book. It is our favorite guinea pig book ever because Sammy is so adorable. He looks like our pet guinea pig. Every time we go to the library, my child looks for guinea pig books to read to our guinea pig. We checked this book out from the library and missed it so much when we returned it. I decided to buy this book for her to have so she can read to our wonderful pet every night. This is an amazing book. I would recommend this for any guinea pig lover. It is great for parents to read to their young children. The book really demonstrates that guinea pigs are so friendly and need attention. The author did a great job describing what sounds guinea pigs make and how much they need attention and get lonely when left alone. The pictures really show just how cute guinea pigs really are.

First and foremost, it should be noted that a single guinea pig does not belong in a classroom unless he goes home every evening with a responsible adult owner. This alone is the reason I gave it four out of five stars. Guinea pigs are social, loving animals who are very good with children. They require care multiple times a day and should never be left alone all weekend.That said, what a wonderful little book. I recently took it and my son's guinea pigs into his kindergarten class to read to the kids and they really enjoyed it. The illustrations are so lifelike and the book gives kids the facts on guinea pig care. The noises that Sammy makes are spot-on. It's an absolutely sweet little book that my kids just love. Highly recommend to kids and guinea pig-lovers.

I bought this book for my 2 yr old niece. She is obsessed with our pigs- but they run and hide from her after she climbed in their cage and was chasing them one day. (!)I bought this book along with a stuffed pig, in order to help her learn how to touch the pigs and enjoy them without scaring them.The illustrations in this book are so adorable that when we got the book, I sat down and read it to my three kids (8,11,13) and they actually sat through it like when they were little, lol :)This is a great book, and my family all agrees that it is recommended.

A lovely story that is quite informative. I bought this for my sister as she is the pig person in the family. I’m sure she’ll like it as the illustrations are cute. I’m sure she already knows all of the information. I’ve given her a few other pig books so this will fit right in.

I bought this book for my classroom after we got Milton, our class guinea pig. The story is simple and sweet and the kids absolutely loved learning about the meaning behind some of the sounds guinea pigs make and the care they require. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

My son checked this booked out of the school library and refused to return it. I had to buy a copy so he could have his own!

My boys are 6 and 3 and they love the illustrations and reading about Sammy. They have their own pet Guinea Pigs so it is lovely to find a story they can relate to. The actual storyline does raise questions though about the overall care of this lonely Guinea Pig. Left alone all weekend? There’s no explanation of who keeps his bowl full of food for two lonely days and his water bottle freshened. We talked about it and to pacify their questions I explained some schools have care takers and this must be who cares for Sammy over the weekend.

what can i say ? everything about this story is great, the story line, the drawings and the colouring, not to mention sammy's expressions ! the writer combines a nice story with teaching how to care for a guinea pig, it's informative but engaging, i was a bit concerned that sammy appeared to be ill [big softy for piggies] but with the twist at the end, thought, yes, the author has experiences of piggies as i could relate sammy to my own girls, who are far smarter than i give them credit for some times !

My kids love this book and so do I!Great story, illustrations and facts/learning in there too. Owning 2 piggies ourselves we could really relate to the behaviours and sounds. Very sweet book for any piggy lover.

The art work in this is beautiful, with adorable images of a guinea pig. If someone wants to educate a child on how to look after a guinea pig, then this would be a great way to do so. It works well as a story in its own right, but is educational too.

Me and my guinea pig mad son loved this book well written and with absolutely lovely drawings, excellent and highly recommended.
