The illustrations and diagrams are clear, aiding my understanding of more complex tasks.One minor downside is that the book could benefit from a more detailed index to quickly find specific topics. My son-in-law is a general contractor and was surprised with this little book! Coming from him, a comment of "Huh! I am going to have to look through this" was high praise.

I thought it would be some badic instructions but it's just a lot of tables of math answers. Probably great for the pro but for DYI best to start with something less technical.

Perfect for those who are Engineers

I got this as a travel supplement for my two copies of Machinery's Handbook that I have at my home and business offices respectively. Seems good so far, but I have not used it as in depth as Machinery's. I decided on this edition as the Pocket Ref is more overlapping with my existing texts while this has more code information for homeowners.

It is a handy book to have with you on the job.

Very handy!!

It's pretty handy, some of the information in it is quite useful, such as abrasives and the sections devoted to each respective area, wood, pipes, tools, etc. It does go into great detail and seems to be done in a comprehensive and organized manner. But aside from the occasional glancing at it to double-check something, or brush up on an idea, I don't think it has much use beyond that.
