It will fail you, and you won’t know it till it’s too late
I was going to give this three stars but despite occasional use it stopped working prematurely. It began to give entirely false readings, took me quite some time to realize the issue was the meter. Before that it worked well only issue is you can’t set the voltage range and the automatic feature would sometimes OL. Save yourself the headache and buy a reputable brand.

Aidbucks MS8232 Digital Multimeter - Voltage, Current & Resistance Tester - Backlight - Requires 2 AAA batteries - Recommended
I am just a homeowner of a 17 year old house, trying to figure out if we have a couple old, non-functioning sockets or a bigger issue like a wiring problem. Thankfully, this meter helped confirm that we just needed to replace the sockets. Don't know why sockets would go bad, but it seems that they did.The instructions that come with this seem targeted towards someone with a bit more electrical knowledge than I have. After reading them a couple times over, and becoming concerned about electrical shock given how many times that is mentioned, I went searched for a bit more direction and found a youtube video that was VERY helpful (searched "using a multimeter to check a wall socket" and the first video in the search was excellent).Followed the guidance very slowly and methodically. Before starting, we made the ends of the leads look like the ends in the pictures on this listing (and in the video) by trimming back the plastic protective coat on each end... otherwise I was concerned they would not make proper contact when placed inside of the sockets. we used a boxing knife to make the trims. Also before starting, we had to scrounge up a couple AAA batteries (not supplied) to power the device. Those batteries go inside the battery housing on the unit's back, and you will need a tiny Phillips-head screwdriver (not supplied either) in order to be able to open that battery housing.Once ready to operate, and once we screwed up our courage and convinced ourselves that we were being careful and would not get shocked, then following the video all went well. Saved us paying an electrician to make a house call just to tell us that we needed to replace two wall socket units.Worked as expected. Would have been nice to include batteries and the tiny screwdriver, and would have like the manual to have been a bit more geared towards the complete novice user. Youtube is my friend...Recommended.Go for it.We received this item gratis from the manufacturer or one of the sellers, without obligation, and decided to objectively test and review it. My statements in this Amazon listing review reflect that testing experience.
