Perfect for my 6 year old. I use it around the house and when she is in the backyard and it has no interfirience or static noise. Buttons are easy to use for frequency changes and the lamp feature is a great add on.

Really do go up to 3 miles. My husband and I use these on the farm and we're not kids, we love them. Better than a pair we bought for $40.

One of the things that many people find frustrating about digital radio technology is the pause that is built in to the system while the radio grabs a channel and begins to receive or broadcast. The only resolution for this issue is to wait a full heartbeat before you begin to transmit or expect to listen. That is "after" you click the mic. No biggie but a lot of people get hung up on this issue and say that the radio is malfunctioning. Overall these are fun little radios. I gifted them to my nephews since we were going on a trip to the mountains and I thought they would be a fun little toy to have in the hills. We played all sorts of scavenger hunts and hide and go seek using these radios as well as just having them available for safety sake. I think everyone should have a set of these and firmly attach them to their children when going to the great outdoors.
