Review: A superb book - I had been looking forward to the arrival of my copy of Happy Mind, Happy Life, having already followed the related podcast content, and it is every bit as good as I had hoped. So much wisdom distilled into clear, practical, unpatronising language. And just so enjoyable to read! Some health books can scare you by pointing out all the hazards out there to watch out for, but Rangan’s do the opposite - they lift you up, reassure you, and make you feel everything’s going to be ok and that you have the power to make yourself feel better. Rangan’s understanding of what happiness is - and what it isn’t - makes total sense. I love the fact that he always has one eye on our evolutionary past, which informs so much of our current state of body and mind. Rangan believes that most of our ills are linked to the mismatch between our fundamental nature, honed by millions of years of evolution, and the vastly different world we now find ourselves in, and I think he’s absolutely right. He shows us what we can do to live more in tune with this fundamental nature, even in the modern world. I don’t know whether it’s the pretty pictures (they certainly help!), but, having already devoured the whole thing in one day, I can tell this is a book I’m going to be picking up again and again to refer back to. Thank you, Dr Chatterjee, for your monumental (and ever-growing) contribution to human well-being.

I had been looking forward to the arrival of my copy of Happy Mind, Happy Life, having already followed the related podcast content, and it is every bit as good as I had hoped.
