Sounds amazing
I have the original version on cd. The thing that always bothered me was the kick drum was a little too.... in your face. The half speed mastered version has toned that down to right where it should be

Could of been yawing or snarling
Maybe one of the best albums ever? I've owned it since it was released, when I bought it a record store, that I'm not sure exist anymore. Bought this as a gift to a brother, who loved it as well. Not a bad track on it. Definitive Hip.

Aesthetically and aurally pleasing
Boyfriend really liked it! Cool insert, I liked that it has all the lyrics to every song. Lovely album. Good sound quality

Five Stars
I'd give it 6.

Weird texture
sounded great. Edges of the vinyl itself were weirdly sharp/rough. It didn't come in a plastic slip, it was more of a waxy paper.

I love The Hip and always have
Heard some songs I have not heard in a while. I love The Hip and always have. They have been a part of my listening pleasure for many, many years. Not a disappointment at all.

Vinyl re-issue done right!
Note: this review is for the "half-speed mastered" vinyl. This is one of those rare occasions where I am really impressed by a re-issue. Certainly kills my CD from 1994. Drums, bass, guitars and of course those iconic vocals never sounded better. Not sure if it’s the half-speed technique, but whatever was done this re-issue is worth it. The packaging is top notch, plus the two records are 100% flat with minimal, if any, surface noise. This was a deal at the pre-order price; still worth it at the slightly higher price.

A very nice pressing -- worth buying for any Hip fan who's into vinyl
4.5 STAR. A very flat and dead quiet pressing. It comes with an OBI on the outside, and a certificate from Abbey Road regarding the 1/2 speed mastering on the inside. The Hip sound really good on this album, and I can clearly hear a significant depth improvement over the original CD release. Nice job by Abbey Road.

Good mastering but unfortunately no pressing information
This was cut from the same 24/96 Bob Ludwig mastering of Day For Night as the previous vinyl pressing, only now it's cut by Miles Showell at Abbey Road. Likely, given the lacquer cutter's job is to create a playback experience as identical as possible to the artist/management's approved digital mastering, there will be no difference between this and the other pressing outside of the cool cover variant.I ordered this hoping it would be pressed at Pallas as some of the 1/2 speed cuts are, but the deadwax would have includede P.USA if it had been. Perhaps this is pressed somewhere in Canada that doesn't include plant-specific identifiers, because virtually all do (and those who don't included a hype sticker indiciating "HQ180 RTI" [one example]) we can only safely say it wasn't pressed at QRP, RTI, Pallas, Optimal or Record Industry. I got lucky with my pressing, it's centred properly, is flat and has a nice quiet noise floor, your mileage may vary. That's not to say those plants are perfect either as quite a few people are reporting pressing issues with the MOFI One Step series, but I typically find it hard to recommend records I can't find full info on and the project managers on this one haven't returned inquiries.Given this is the 24/96 mastering cut to vinyl, if you're format agnostic you may just prefer buying the high resolution digital download and then you've got the vinyl cutting files to playback directly. Ludwig did a nice job wtih this remaster.Heck of an album either way.

The Definitive Vinyl Pressing
This review is regarding the Abbey Road Half Speed Mastered vinyl. This is simply the definitive vinyl pressing. The sound is light years better than last years reissue. The sound is so well balanced with every single note distinguishable from the other. Worth every penny.

Bad pressing, don't purchase
Bad pressing, crackles and distortion on tracks near runout. Expected much more for a limited special release. Have the regular version of this album as well and it's flawless. Disappointing and just goes to show the prices go up and quality goes down as people try to take advantage of the vinyl wave.

Just buy this!!
If you love the Hip, get this album. If you kind of like the Hip, get this album. If you're not sure if you like the Hip, get this album. If you hate the Hip.......well, you're probably not reading this, so you can just go spit from a bridge.Got it on a pre-sale...great price, delivered on the expected date. Sounds fantastic, even on my low-end setup!

Hear it again, for the first time
Amazing re-master on a hi-fidelity pressing. Best heard on a higher end system. The remastering really brings out Gords voice. He sounds more raw and rides on an up front sounds stage. A great pleasure to hear this again for the first time.

DAY for NIGHT. Is a great disc by the HIP and really is worthy of the little bit of extra money that this disc costs
Day for Night, is a more cerebral disc for the Hip, Downie does a fantastic job on this disc for the band and it is well worth the extra little bit of green that one has to put out for the ownership of this now dated but classy Tragically Hip CD.

So hard done by a bad pressing.
I was looking forward to the 1/2 Speed Abbey Road Master for months. I preordered it and the day it arrived I was really disappointed with the sound quality. Thugs was all distorted with a painful popping snare drum and it skipped endlessly at about the 40 second mark.I just filed a return with Amazon and its no longer in stock and other retailers want twice as much. I wish Amazon would actually take some ownership on this to replace my record with a better pressing at the same price.

Sound quality issue.
It is one of The Tragically Hips greatest records and the album color is really cool. The sound quality on these repressed albums I found to be pretty bad. A unusual, mid range, back ground buzz throughout the entire album. I have a higher end turntable, receiver and speakers, so I know the problem is not with my set up but with the album itself. Very difficult to enjoy the full warmth and sound of these songs because of the persistent buzz, quite distracting.

Classic Hip Album!!!
Picked up my order today, and no problems and plays nicely with almost zero surface noise or pops , but as for the music while it's not Fully Completely it's still a classic with all of the imagination of Gord Downie's Canadiana landscapes he's known for, plus the band are as great as ever! It's sad that he's gone now,but the music will live on.

Better sound
I have owned the original album on CD since it was first released. I preordered this because of the outstanding tracks like Thugs and Nautical Disaster. The sound quality is phenomenal on a highly resolving system!

Das wichtigste Album
„Day for Night“ erachte ich als das wichtigste Album dieser großartigen Band, da es durchgängig die große Bandbreite und unfassbare Stimme von Gordon Downie aufzeigt. Wenn Du REM magst, wirst Du „The Tragically Hip“ lieben...
