These are actually a decent set of brushes for the price. I mean, look, they're $8. They're not professional quality by any stretch. But they're not pretending to be. They're an affordable set of brushes for people who want an affordable option. A couple them weren't perfect. (What would you expect?) But they've all been usable. I've done art for a long time and sometimes I just want some supplies I can grab and use without feeling precious about them. These brushes fill that need. You won't use these forever. They won't be your favorite brushes in the world. But they'll work and they'll get you started. Or they'll be an easy travel option if you don't want to take your expensive brushes. And if you ruin one while painting, they're $8. I actually bought a second set just to keep around. So, truly, for the price, these are a really decent option.

Sometimes, I think I just have terrible luck. I wanted to really like these brushes and in fact several of them I do, but about half of them were smashed upon arrival. Now I do believe it has to do with shipping, as the box was flattened and the tip protectors had fallen off in the process and really messed up the brushes they fell off of. Of course with my terrible luck it was all the smaller brushes that were damaged and those were the ones from this set I needed the most!But I did like the ones I have used and I want to give them a higher rating, but I didn't get to really use about half of them. If I get the chance to try this set out again at some point hopefully I can up my rating.*Update*First off, the customer service with this company is very impressive! Not only did they see my lamenting of crushed brushes and replace them, they also refunded my order, if only all the art supplies that goes horribly awry did that! Now that I have gotten a chance to really use the brushes to paint miniatures and alter magic cards the brushes are really good! Granted they are not the best brushes in the world, but they are certainly the best I have used for this price point. I tend to go through brushes quickly, mostly thanks to miniatures (they are much rougher in comparison to painting something flat without sharp edges) so I like to bulk up on inexpensive brushes so my really expensive brushes get used for finishing and detail. These are great, they hold their shape well, the paint on the handle does not seem to be flaking off, and most importantly they do not shed. These brushes are going to be my new go to source for rounds.

Great assortment of brushes for beginners (I use mine for face painting) but if you want a long lasting brush, spend a few more bucks and get a plastic handle. Mine are only a couple months old and are already cracking and splitting.UPDATE: The company saw my above review and replaced the brushes without me asking or having to send anything back. Because of their excellent customer service, I've revised my review from 3 stars to 4.

These brushes have many different sizes and have the number on them so you can easily identify the size. However, this is not good for watercolor. The bristles are too stiff and do not absorb water at all. When applied to my watercolor paper, it easily damage the surface of the papers. I would say they are better for gouache paintings.Update: I received a replacement set which is much better than the previous set, so I am updating this review. The brushes themselves are 4 stars, bonus 1 star for excellent customer service.

I've had these for a day and on the one brush I used yesterday, the paint on the brush handle has already started cracking. The brush was never left sitting in water, it was used for watercolor yesterday afternoon/evening, cleaned and laid flat to dry last night. That said, the brush head itself is pretty good for the price. The set has a good variety of sizes; they all arrived with clear protective caps on them, with no bristles flayed out. So even with the cracking paint on the handle I'd still cautiously recommend these if you're on a tight budget.

Not a bad price, but you get what you pay for. For lack of a better way to say it, don't get anything but the bristles wet. A few hours of painting and the wooden handle on three brushes had swollen so much that the handle paint cracked and fell off. Still usable, but I think I'll go with a plastic handled brush next time.I did notice the stray bristle issue that another had noticed- a single long strand sticking out. It's easily removed.

Some of the brushes needed to but trimmed since they had longer hairs that would get in the way. So far, not too much shedding though I've been painting it everyday for 5 days.Has a lot of needing to get used to the brush.

Very good quality brushes - would order from this company again!
