Auto Headlight Switch, Built-in Headlamp Light Sensor Switch for Volkswagen VW Polo 9N 6R / mk4 Golf / MK4 Jetta/Passat B5 B5.5

My 2013 VW Beetle did not come with automatic headlights. Bought it used in 2022. Since then I've left the lights on by mistake 3x, draining the battery, because I'm so used to that function in all my other cars. While the headlights would go out when you parked the car, the daytime running lights would stay on, thereby draining the battery This one is a perfect drop in, plug and play. What I like about this one is that theres a light photcell on the top of the switch, versus the other ones that come with a wired sensor that you mount on the dash or the A pillar. This switch integrated photocell works very well. As soon as sunlight comes through the windshield after pulling out of my dark garage, the headlamps turn off. Interesting that when you merely open the doors, the headlamps do come on, which in the original switch they wouldn't come on until you actually moved the switch to on. They were not associated with the door being opened.One thing of note. It has positions for fog and parking lights. I dont know if this one is defective, but i can't move the switch to either of those positions. I don't have fog lights to begin with so its not a problem for me. But I would like to have the ability to put my parking lights on at times, but its not a deal breaker.It's not quite as robust as the OEM but I didn't expect it to, compared to OEM prices. Finally, my car came with a rather heavy brushed satin trim on the switch. This one is a thin strip of chrome. Hardly noticeable as it being different. That too is not a concern as long as it works.

Fast delivery and good quality

This Euro auto headlight switch is terrific! It was a 3 minute installation. I pulled up a video on utube to be sure of the steps on removing the old one and it was so easy. It is truly amazing that one can get fully functional auto lights with just a switch change out. I have a 2011 VW Jetta SEL 2.5 5cyl. It had a on/off light switch only. There were fog lights but they were not operational. In Virginia if there are lights on the car they must work or they can write you a ticket/fail your yearly inspection. With this Euro auto switch the fogs came on with the pull of the switch. It was the first time I’ve ever seen them on!I also had to replace both headlight assemblies due to water leaks. To my surprise the new headlights came with some new bulbs already included. After installing all bulbs I find that this new Euro switch is indeed a great thing. It recognizes the ambient light and turns on either DRL or if needed full running lights. All this with my switch in AUTO mode. I am happy to write this review of what I think is an excellent product at a very reasonable cost. I recommend this seller and product to everyone who has a need for auto lights in their VW auto’s. Read a review about it being a little loose. The person recommended foam insulated tape so I bought a roll (don’t need but just a piece) but they don’t sell it like that. Cut about a 3” piece and stuck it around the outside of the headlight switch where it goes into the vehicle. Tightened it up real nice and has never moved an inch since. Only drawback is I wish it had a sensitivity setting. It doesn’t come on when it’s raining sometimes especially me living Florida where it can be sunny and raining at the same time. Love the “at-home” feature. When you get out of your car or in at night after turning your alarm off or on the headlights stay on for around 30 seconds before going off and on automatically for a safe lighted surrounding.

I purchased this to replace a previous version with an external light sensor that failed. This was so much easier and cleaner to install because there were no extra wires. I like that the fog lights can be left on when in Auto mode so they come on with the parking or headlights. Depending on the light level will turn on just parking or parking/headlights. Very happy with the quality and ease of use.

Great addition for anyone looking to quickly add automatic headlights

I can’t believe how easy this was. My daughter kept leaving the lights on and killing the battery, being used to always driven a car with automatic headlights. After looking for an upgrade I found this switch. Super easy to install less than a few minutes. Works perfectly and more I don’t have to worry about her being stranded with a dead battery. Thank you so much for peace of mind. I highly recommend this product.
