How big is the chunk? Are they mostly homogeneous size, or does it contain lots of fine dust?

There is some dust but not an extreme amount. The brick is about 18 inch square and about 8 inches thick. When water is added it increases in size about 3 times.

I'm looking for a coconut substrate to use for my snakes. Are their any pesticides in this or is it 100% organic?

I have not used with tomatoes, but don't see any problem with that use.
