I do know that it’s an awesome item to have in the first aid kit and at home. **Q: Is it painful to get a blister out with this tool? does it hurt** A: Generally it’s not painful but if you already have a painful splinter or blister you already have irritation in the area. Me personally, I don’t find it painful. **Q: Are these metal?** A: Yes they are metal. They are amazing for wood and metal splinters. **Q: Does this product differ from the medipoint blood lancet product line? they look identical on a computer screen, but are are different a pricing point** A: I don't know. I just know they are awesome to get a splinter out. The point is very sharp, and it was effective, cutting away thin layers of skin until I could get to the splinter, which I removed with splinter tweezers. These worked far better and were easier to use than a needle, which would have been my standard procedure. As a woodworker, I get splinters more than most folks, and it is nice to have an effective and sterile tool option.
