Review: Pulls out the large video card heat - In making this next generation gaming computer, with an 8 gig Radeon video card among other things, the blowing or ambient heat from the computer is enough to heat a small room. I can & have used it in the winter to do that. Well, I was running something, & it was on over night. In the summer, I want to expel this heat so I can stand to be in there, gaming. Trying to get the right CFM to noise ratio can be difficult in a computer environment, in a small room. Mainly home based. This extractor from VivoSun is a great one. It's not quiet, & sometimes I can't wait to turn it off, but it pulls out the heat like I want it to, well, enough to keep the temps nice. Generally, the CPU's radiator will get up to about 107°F-113°F (42-45°C ) with this 195 CFM fan bringing it to (32°C-37°C) 89.6°F-98.6°F & it's pulling most of that heat out the window. I included a snap of some general video editing temps with out the VivoSun, & the bottom one is after it got going. The temps dropped in about a minute, which is super fast! When I "forget" to turn it on, & the computer gets up to about 45°C, it takes the exhaust about eight odd minutes to bring it down to 35°C & about a full 10 minutes to level off at 33°F. So that's not bad really. I have tried a small CFM unit (106 CFM), but the pull just wasn't there. I have included a video so you can hear how it sounds. Of course, it's muffled a bit, being I captured it from my phone, & recordings always sound different than your ear. If I can, I'll try to include a video of the room's cooling turbo fan so you can hear them both. Not bad, but not whisper quiet. They don't claim to be, either, so nothing on them. If I bring the tower down to the floor, or move it away, that will change things a whole bunch. If you're thinking about adding an external cooler to your gaming/video unit, I strongly suggest VivoSun. The product works great, & they are on top of any blips you may have. In fact, they helped me upgrade to this unit with a matter of an e-mail. That's AWESOMENESS to the 10th! Now I don't have to "worry" about leaving the computer on for a bit while I'm in the middle of a game, or when I step away for a moment. I know that this exhaust fan is going to keep the system cool. Bottom line, this exhaust fan works very well sealed to my tower's top fan port. So much that I will be adding a smaller one to my 3D printer to better help regulate the temps in that case. I did need to purchase dryer duct (hose), & a 4" inlet pipe. The aluminum tape & clamps came with the dryer ducting. I used some sticky sound dampening on the I/O exit panel to better direct the air flow being pulled up & out. Also, it has holes in the "feet" for more secure mounting. I just hot glued it.
Review: Works great - lasted 5 years running every day - This is a solid fan. The last one I bought had good air flow, was reasonably quiet and lasted 5 years. Not a fancy option but solid and I just bought my second one.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is my fan defective? For such a small fan it is extremely loud.**
A: Use light weight clipper oil on the moter behind fan blades, also use tape to hold to pieces together after twisting back together. I own three need to add oil to all. All have been running non stop for over 6 months.

**Q: Can you attach a variable speed controller to this**
A: You can, however, with just 200 CFM of air movement you may want to just keep it on full. The motor will make more humming noise if you use a speed controller to decrease speed. I found it makes less noise on full than it does if you decrease the speed which increases motor hum noise considerably.

**Q: If i use this fan as my exhaust fan for my 3ft×3ft×6ft grow tent, and use the cheaper less powerful 100cfm as an inline fan would that suffice?**
A: Hey man i dont know where you live? But im in new england and heat is usaully temporary problem for a few months. But the 4 in didnt cut it i ended up buying the 6 inch kit with carbon filter and still have the 4 inch. This year is brutal and glad i switched in april. Honestly i would get the 6 or even the 8 with adjustable speed. I struggled to justify the costs myself but its gonna save money down the line and You will have room for lose of efficency with bends and dirty blades. But hey everyone journey is different. Its just cheaper to go bigger then at the minimum CFM or btu or any hvac project. It wont work as hard and run hard at 100% power

**Q: Does this have a brushless motor? Need to minimize spark chances internally.**
A: Yes it has a brushless motor

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great - lasted 5 years running every day

This is a solid fan. The last one I bought had good air flow, was reasonably quiet and lasted 5 years. Not a fancy option but solid and I just bought my second one.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works pretty good, housing let's fumes escape.
*by E***D on January 13, 2024*

It works pretty good but the seam on the housing let's some fumes out. I am using it to Ventana CO2 laser foe engraving leather, which puts off the smell of burnt hair. It gets rid of about 80-90% of the fumes, but I could still smell it and after inspecting the setup I could feel a slight 'breeze' coming from the seam in the housing which is where the smell is coming from. That is a little bit annoying because a I'll have to unhook the vent ducting and run a.bead of caulk.or something around that seam. I would have done that before installing it if I would have known it would be an issue. I don't know how anyone else hasn't mentioned this. Anyway, something to be aware of. I didn't have a window to vent it out of since I'm in a commercial space that doesn't have an opening window. I removed my bathroom fan and used a reducing connector for ducting that I got from the hardware store and then plugged the fan into the plug so I can switch it from the switch on the wall.
