2014 release, the 17th studio album from the veteran vocalist nicknamed the Prince of Sophisticated Soul. The winning formula of EUPHORIA is not about what gets added, but more a matter of addition by subtraction. A slick 'less is more' production approach by the team of Will Downing, keyboardists Chris Big Dog Davis and Mike Logan, push his rich baritone vocals to the forefront and creates a more intimate Soul-lounge feel, complete with upright bass licks and brushed drum strokes. Within this format, Downing deftly swings from R&B to Blues to Blue-Eyed Soul to Jazz to a Brazilian classic sung in Portuguese. The term Grown Folk's Music is over-used for sure, but there's almost no other way to describe the incredible variety offered on this release or the maturity required to truly appreciate it.

MELLOW, MATURE AND SOPHISTICATED !!!.
ONCE more MR WILFRED DOWNING proves that he is indeed one of, or perhaps the only true surviving R&B artists of this epoch. Again he continues to improve on an already awesome talent, showcasing versatility and adaptability, yet sticking to his formula. WILL DOWNING,with his outstanding vocals, is indeed the PRINCE OF SOPHISTICATED SOUL!!!.ON this particular record, his most recent effort "EUPHORIA" is different because this album is laced with pure JAZZ,dusted with some R&B, it is indeed mellow, mature and sophisticated, it is so relaxing, so peaceful, so charming and so soothing. This record,"EUPHORIA" will take you to "EXTACYA"...If you want to go there...THOUGH only eight songs, the package is very full of high quality gems. "TOO HIGH", originally done by the legendary MR STEVIE WONDER, is "aged" to perfection by WILL here, well crafted."TURN OFF THE LIGHTS" is indeed the ultimate tribute to MR TEDDY PENDERGRASS, WILL has smoothed it out, beautiful.MY most favorite song here is the pounding yet soothing "HEAVEN IN YOUR EYES", an original cut. I would love to see and hear WILL goes all-out original in the future, should be very interesting...ON "LUSH LIFE" you get to hear WILL'S vocals, vintage JAZZ at it's utmost best..."SHE'S GONE", heavy, gloomy, real and jazzy...nice horns..."MEU BEM QUERER" is sung in pure Portuguese...I don't know a word and yet it's so mellow and creamy...somehow MUSIC crosses all language barriers...very versatile indeed WILL..THE thrills continues in "IF I WERE A MAGICIAN", just so laid back and rich..THIS CLASSIC program concludes with the bluesey and very jazzy "YOU CAN BRING ME FLOWERS",I Very highly recommended to all JAZZ fans and all who loves excellent, sophisticated, generation and time spanning music, this record will indeed having you feeling quite EUPHORIC for a very long..long..long time.

Not much "EUPHORIA" for me with this release.
With this cd, maybe it was the song selections, but it didn't grab me the way that I wanted it too. Don't get me wrong, Will did his thing, as he always does, however, it didn't have that "WOW" factor that I look for. Still, there was enough to really groove to and get your groove on with. That voice is STILL one of the most amazing voices that I have ever heard! This dude could sing the phone book and I would buy it. All in all, I liked it.

Good Will Downing
If you like Will Downing you'll enjoy this work. If you are a so so fan of classic R&B then this will also appeal to you. If you want to pick a song, His remake of Turn Off The Lights, will also appeal to you. I'd like to see a few more collaborations with some other female singers to offset his sometimes hypnotic voice. All in all Will has come back from his illness strong enough to keep his fan base entertained.

Nice CD!
Will Downing is smoothness personified. However, I believe he could have chosen better songs to remake. I know that he likes to cross into many musical genres, but some of the numbers he chose weren't hitting and will make you skip to the next song. My favorite number on the CD is "Heaven In Your Eyes", and I also like "Meu Bem Querer" after I broke out my French dictionary. lol

Pretty good cd.
I am a huge W.D. fan. This cd is not bad but is not one of my favorites. It only has 8 songs and although I like 6 of the 8, it's not as euphoric as I hoped. I will still be listening to it and waiting for the next release!

You can't go wrong with Will Downing. Love the remake of "Turn off the Lights" and "She's Gone". Meu Bem Querer - any man that can sing a song in another language with a smooth voice like Will is alright with me. Love the CD.

Mr. Cry
Como decía un famoso locutor de radio, Rafa Fuentes, uno de mis llorones favoritos, no es de sus mejores trabajos pero es un artista al que tengo tanto cariño que no me importa, todos tenemos una cuesta abajo.
