AP700 Nailer/Nail Remover/Nail Puller Kit with Extra Driver

I had 3 pallets to tear apart. After seeing a video about the Air Locker AP700 I decided to try it. Pounding out nails has been a hassle for me for years since I have a vision problem and have to get close to what I am working on. I am very impressed with the tool. It is light weight but seems sturdy. It has the power at 90 psi to either knock out the nails entirely or most of the way so they pull easier. A couple of nails broke off in the barrel but this caused no problem. I just pointed it at the bucket and pulled the trigger. They came out nicely. Point of Note: Great Idea on the video I watcher about the Air Locker AP700. Take a 5 gallon bucket. Place a board over it with a slot of about 1" wide x 4" or so long. I just screwed together 4 scrap pieces to form the similar size opening. Then lay your piece of wood you are working with the nail over the opening. Nail goes in but does not bounce back at you. Good safety tip.

Just got this today, and had to play with it immediately. I had a stack of pallet boards waiting for me in the garage, with their stubborn twisty nails all intact. A few days ago, I pried apart several pallets with the Vergo Pallet Buster (also an excellent product). Trying to hammer or pry the nails with a hand tool is really just a horrible idea (as you've likely already figured out), especially when you could use this bad mother instead. Note: the AP700 doesn't come with a coupler (the thingy that you screw into the bottom of the AP700 that attaches to the air hose). Be sure to use some thread tape on your coupling to prevent air leakage. Also, if you are like me, you might wonder what the rod thingy is that comes with the AP700. Just store it; it's a replacement part for the inside of the tool. Okay, so I screwed in the coupling, attached the hose, and turned on the air compressor. My compressor automatically pressurizes to 100 psi (and that worked just fine). If you are more comfortable with a lower psi, that's fine too. Definitely don't need to go over 100 though. All you do is slide the nose of the AP700 over the [pointy end of the] nail, press the trigger and KER-PLING! and a spark and your nail has become dislogded with such force that it is now a ricocheting projectile in your workspace. This is no joke, and potentially very hazardous, so even though it's easy as cake to use the tool (you can hold the board with one hand and gun the nail with the other, or set the board across a couple sawhorses, or whatever suits you), certain precautions MUST be taken. Firstly, don't use this naked. Thick or baggy clothes. Wear goggles. Do this in an enclosed space, unless you're somewhere where it doesn't matter if nails are flying god-knows-where. Find a way to prevent your nails from being projectiles. One very simple way is to put a blanket in the bottom of a plastic storage tote, and have it sitting right below your pounding spot. The nails will shoot into it and their force will be absorbed by the blanket, thus preventing ricochet and collecting your nails in one convenient location. When using the gun, you can lower the nose all the way to the board before you pull the trigger (for a more powerful punch), or lower the nose only partway onto the nail (advisable on thinner boards and end nails, to prevent any injury to the wood). Sometimes the nail doesn't punch all the way out, and that's okay! Just set those boards in their own pile, then take a pry bar (or hammer) and quickly pry the hangers-on the rest of the way out (takes little effort, especially if you step on the board at the same time to hold it down). Also, bent nails arent a problem. Just slide the nose over the nail and bend it back to as straight as it'll go, then give it a punch. It should shoot right out. So, as of day 1, I'm more than pleased with this tool; it is perfect for depalleting. I'd be foolish to do it any other way. Unless you want the look of the nail heads in place, in which case you could use a cutting wheel to cut the nails off. Anyway, good luck out there builders and de-builders!

I cannot recall a time that I have been more satisfied with a tool. I purchased the AP700 to remove nails from over 3500 square feet of half-log cedar siding. I had several thousand nails to extract and I estimated that the task would take me at least 2 months using just a claw hammer and pry bar. With the AP700, I completed the job in about a week and it was actually fun to use. For smooth shank nails, the AP700 blasted them out without further effort. Because the original builder mostly used ring shank nails, the AP700 would force the nail point flush with the surface, so I just needed to flip the board over and remove the nail by hand or pry bar. I kept the driver lubricated and experienced no problems, jams, or stoppages. If you do a lot of nail extraction, this tool is a 'must-have'.

This product works great for regular nails , but I was taking epal pallets apart and it had a tough time driving the pallet nails with rings on it all the way through. They were 4" nails. But if you clip just below the rings and leave a stub. Drives nails right out of wood. Definitely a time saver.

I am building a pallet wall at my cabin and i did not want to smack every nail out of every board. I bought this based on a YouTube review and am thrilled with it. It works great and I have done several thousands of nail by now with very little issues. some hardwood pallets will hold on to the nail but a hammer solves that quickly. My only minor issues is the driver tip may get stuck in the fully extended position, a quick trigger pull solves that easily though. Also, the driver tip may get pushed to the side of a nail and the nail tip will get sucked back into the main chamber, causing a jam. a little rocking would solve the jam though. Overall, 5 stars with ease and very happy I picked it up before I even started to work.

A lot of the tedium and time of demolishing an old wood structure is de-nailing the wood. I don't like to landfill the boards since they are biodegradable and many times can be recycled, but not with nails still in them. You also cannot burn them which requires you to cut them up further, unless the nails are removed. This Air locker makes it almost fun. I drive the nails out of 1" boards into a bucket with sand in it. It sends the nails completely through and flying out the other side. Just put the tube of the Air Locker over the nail and pull the trigger. I am also removing pressure treated 2x4 and 2x6 deck planking on an old weathered deck.. A lot of the nails are so rusty that you cannot hammer them from the back without they bend over or break off, leaving most of the nail still in the wood. Time consuming to dig out or punch out, The air locker drives the rusty old nails through but not quite as far as the thinner wood. Then you just flip it over and use a crow bar to finish pulling, but the nail is easy to pull then with the head exposed and the rust binding the nail has been freed up by the impact. Only a few of the nails don't go very easily.

For starters this is a great tool and works excellent, well built and definitely purpose built, however the first time you use this you will quickly learn that depending on your situation orientation and depth of the nails makes it so that it requires a little bit of technique to remove a nail every single time, I don't think it's any fault of the tool at all it's just the way it is. Side note, this tool can be incredibly dangerous at higher PSI and will literally knock the nail out at high enough velocity to ricochet like a stray bullet, I recommend doing this over some sort or container that has a bottom with some trash or something in it to absorb the nails because against concrete you're going to have friendly fire.

This is one amazing tool .. I build farmhouse country furniture with distressed old barn boards ... usually full of nails. It was very time consuming, and was the one job wasting a lot of my valuable time. Place the nozzle over the end of the nail, straighten it up a bit, if necessary, and bam! ... blow it right out of the board. It takes only seconds to clear a board. I wish I had known about this tool years ago, should be a stable in every carpenters tool box. CAUTION!! read the info and watch the video, or you could kill the neighbours dog across the street. Care should bet taken to contain the projectile.

If you own a compressor and like to take pallets apart this is the toy for you! Normally there's two types of people in this world, those who saw pallets apart and those who pry them apart. Both types of people end up with nails that need removing. Note these are shipped from the US at the moment, I had a delivery notification saying it had been delivered but there was no deliveries on my ring doorbell, I contacted amazon in a panic, it turns out sometimes this happens and my airlocker arrived a couple of hours later, it felt far more dramatic at the time than it sounds now. If you saw then those runners are ruined no matter what as you've left the business end of the nail in. If you pry then you can salvage both the runner and the slat. Getting the airlocker over the nail body you use it to straighten the nail slightly then squeeze the trigger and bang the nail is gone, it flies out at some rate too! If you are one of those who chop through the nails then you just place the air locker over where the nail body would have been and pop out it comes it can take a few goes to work out exactly where the alignment is. Overall using the air locker is super fun this in combination with a pallet buster makes the whole process of disassembly take only a few minutes. I love it!!

This product was gift for friends who've started a pallet salvage business, manufacturing things like deck furniture and flower containers. After several months use they're delighted that the Air Locker even removes long screws. It has stood up well and so far they haven't needed to use the spare piston that I bought. Recently they stated that it works so well that they would buy a replacement if needed in the future.

Why didn't anybody tell me about this brilliant tool I was lucky enough to see it on Facebook so thought would have a good look the only place I could find it was Amazon took a time to get my hands on it because it looks like it had to come from America was well worth the wait really easy to use used it for a short time but got lots of work for it which will be a lot easier to do
