Absurdistan

Probably not the best title in the world - it might lead one to look for implied social messages and ignore the delightful story. It's a sweet and completely entertaining story of people at their funniest, most presumptious, most romantic, and most heroic. The characters are colorful, the actors attractive and appropriate. Even the implied godforsaken location is itself scenic and adventurous. With just enough whimsy thrown in to make it seem like a fairy tale, I really loved this movie!

It started off slow but then had a good middle and a good finish.I was mislead by the title but happily relieved afterwards

This is Veit Helmer's second major movie and, so far, it's the best. Not that Tuvalu (1st) and Baikonur (3rf) are bad, but personally I just love this one. It's totally aptly named and well worth the watch. I don't want to give away anything else, just try it!

I watched first 15 minutes of this movie and I had to turn the TV off. The movie is boring and the humor in there is ridiculously dull. When picking up this move I was mislead by the subtitle saying that this movie was made in Russia. I like modern Russian cinema and I was expecting to watch some good independent cinematographic work. Though the language of this movie is Russian, Russia has nothing to do with this. This movie was shot in Azerbaijan, by a Geman producer Veit Helmer. I still do not understand why they picked up Russian language for this movie. It does not fit the village and its cultural layout. People in the movie are very weird. This village looks like a central asian rural community full of mentally ill retards. Men are shown as lazy uneducated sexists. They do nothing and the only thing they want is to drink and have sex. Women do all work for men and they only way they can control men is to refuse an intercourse. It's very primitive plot and some scenes are just filthy to watch. My suggestion - do not waste your time.

Hilarious humor, good fantasy and entertainment, if you like this type of stories.

Dieser Film ist in jeder Hinsicht anders als man das von modernen Filmen gewohnt ist - ich habe bisher nichts Vergleichbares in dieser Kombination gesehen: die Absurdität der Story mit der Auswahl der Darsteller (viele Laiendarsteller) und in dieser Art der filmischen Umsetzung.Ich liebe absurde Geschichten mit Situationskomik, die aber noch einigermassen realistisch dargestellt sein müssen damit sie mir gefallen. Dieser ist zwar hart an der Grenze, aber grad durch seine Fremdartigkeit habe ich ihn lieb gewonnen (trotz des Griffs in die "Klischeekiste").Er spielt irgendwo fernab der Ziwilisation in einem einsamen Dorf im Nahen Osten, erinnert irgendwie an ganz alte Western, hat das Flair von regenarmer & staubig exotischer Bergwelt und die Darsteller (Laien sowie Profis) haben sich mit ihrer Schlichtheit und Menschlichkeit in mein Herz gespielt. Die Liebesgeschichte der beiden jungen Hauptdarsteller, um die sich alles rankt, ist hinreissend, phantasievoll, menschlich & doch so ganz anders als erwartet.Das 1. Mal sah ich ihn im Kino im Original mit französischen Untertiteln (habe also nicht alles verstanden) und war da bereits so fasziniert, dass ich ihn unbedingt auf deutsch haben musste. Es ist eine DVD, die ich mir immer wieder mal sehr gerne anschaue und jedes Mal entdecke ich neue, vorher übersehene Details am Rande des Hauptgeschehens, im Handlungsablauf, an den Kleidern, im Dorf oder in der Landschaft.

Toller Film. Bestellablauf, Lieferung, Produkt war in Ordnung, bin zufrieden.

Der Film ist super! Haben von Anfang bis Ende Tränen gelacht und trotzdem ist auch Handlung drin. Ich sag nur: Not macht erfinderisch.

So toll "Tuvalu" auch war, hier versagt Veit Helmers Magie leider. Dem Drehbuch und den Schauspielern fehlt es einfach an Klasse. Dabei geht das Ganze noch recht vielversprechend los, wird nach einer halben Stunde aber leider immer nur platter und dünner und plumper und dümmer. Da ist viel Potential verschenkt worden. Ärgerlich.
