Great book for home brewers that includes recipes to some favorite beers
I just received the copy that I preordered. My husband used to brew but hasn't brewed any beer at home in a while. This is such a nice book with tips from the pros and recipes to some of our favorite beers. I had no idea that those recipes were even available. How cool is that? I'm sure he will enjoy reading this and who knows, maybe get motivated to brew again! It's a great book for anyone who brews beer at home and a wonderful gift for anyone you know who does.

A must have for Homebrewers of every experience level
As a fan of the magazine, Brew Your Own, this book was preordered as a gift for my brew loving husband. He loves it! It has everything you could possibly need to know for the new home brewer or the more experienced one. The design is easy to use and read. A fun, unexpected part of the book were the many recipes of some of our favorite beers like Anchor Steam or Fat Tire. Overall, this should be a definite for all homebrewers, very highly recommend!

Glad I did too otherwise my beer would have been ...
This book would get 5 stars but unfortunately the first beer recipe I went to use was incorrect. It said for 17.5lbs of grain to mash with 3.75 gallons of water and sparge with 2 quarts. Clearly not enough. Even as a beginning brewer I caught the mistake. Glad I did too otherwise my beer would have been trash. Thanks Big Book!Other than the recipes probabaly being wrong, the book does go into great detail about each aspect of brewing and how important they all are. It is a good book for the brewing knowledge. Not the recipes.

Gives loads of detail.
This book does a very good job of describing the process and why each step in brewing should be followed. It also describes the variations of home brew kits with a fair focus on the 5 gallon kits. I also look forward to attempting some of the beers listed in it.

Required reading for a new brewer
A very good book for the new brewer, this book covers a lot of topics, presents it in an easily understandable way. I found the chapters on all grain brewing especially useful

One of Three of the Best
Haven't brewed for years and one lonely evening decided to look at how far the hobby has come. Wow. It's now possible to own your own nano brewery....albeit at a cost. This is one of three books I bought....in the hope that at least one would be decent. Truth be told...they are all outstanding books and compliment each other wonderfully. The other two are Radical Brewing....LOVE Randy Mosher! and How to Brew by John Palmer- awesomeness!. Graham Wheeler all those years back set the bar extremely high. It's fair to say that craft beer- and homebrewing in particular- have kicked off big time in the USA, which is unbelievable as going back twenty years the USA was in no way known for its beer (other than it being awful).Of the three books, The Big Book of Brewing is by far the most lavishly illustrated. This is a book that smells fantastic! 50% of the book is about brewing beer and 50% has recipes. Don’t be put off by this- the recipes are for clones of some of the best (and challenging) beers in the world. Great to see some Belgian beauties and the use of the divine Brettanomyces. The 50% brewing section cuts to the chase and at times flips between basic and more advanced a fair bit. It’s tough to pitch this although I think the authors (the book is a collection of ideas from Brew Your Own Magazine, expertly edited) for the most part get this spot on. The Big Book of Brewing covers the simpler malt extract method and also well-and-truly whets the appetite for all grain brewers. If you want a good, solid grounding for brewing which gets straight to the point and has some stunning pictures, recipes and very useful tables of the various malts and hops available, then this book is a must….along with Mosher and Palmer!
