I use this at my standing desk for programming all day at my computer. This size is perfect. It lets me stand closer and further from the desk. Sometimes I like to stand back from my desk while I'm thinking and reading some code on the screen. The extra inches vertically is worth it in my opinion.

Mats are thick and pretty big. They are heavy and stay in place so you don't have to worry about them slipping out from underneath you. I bought two and they definitely cover the area where you stand for yours in the kitchen. Back saver!!
