Man & Guitar finds multi-award winner Ian Siegal at his bare-bones best, tearing up an unplugged solo set as part of Bluesfest 2013 at the Royal Albert Hall in London. This is the performer at his most punchy, pugnacious and smash-and-grab exciting. There were no bells, whistles or safety nets - just a world-class performer bleeding into some his favourite songs. The BBC's capturing of Siegal brings every drop of atmosphere tumbling through the speakers. It's all been caught in the bottle: the soul-fingered fretwork, the evocative gravel-flecked vocal and the deadpan banter.

Grit and emotion
This is my second Siegal CD after my eye surgeon recommended I get Dust. Absolutely great! Ian Siegal understands the importance of putting grit and emotion into his singing and playing. Many modern country blues players are very "low energy" - I end up falling asleep. Not with Mr Siegal!
