Will this tool sharpen a hatchet?** A: I'd use my large SINGLE CUT hand-file as it can cut a fair amount of material (steel) from the edge and not leave a rough edge. A double cut file would leave a rougher edge, which is not as sharp an edge. Although you can file with a double cut file to remove a lot of material, but you'll need to use the single cut file to finish the final cutting edge or maybe the Corona Garden Tool Blade Sharpener would finish the edge well enough. The Corona Sharpener is for refinishing the axe edge after using the axe. You are going to need to check the edge often as you are cutting grass with dirt and rock in it as well as the grass. I would have a special hatchet for the sod as I am rather finicky with my axes. The entire device is (x) 5" long and a little over 1/2" wide. The black cap is about 1&1/4" long.
