I don't know how they ever built the pyramids or Stonehenge without duct tape, steak knives, and a good supply of these great cafe trays! Whether you know it or not, you need these things. In fact, if you think you might want, say, two trays, my advice would be to order at least six. They don't cost much, take up little storage space, and once you have them, as other reviewers have noted, you will keep discovering new ways to use them. They're among my very best tools - simple and attractive, tough, versatile and inexpensive. I know I've bought at least 20 of them in various sizes. That would probably be enough, if I hadn't shared some with friends (because they're such useful things), and if I could keep them from migrating to the basement and garage when my partner has the occasional impulse to organize.As it is, I'm ready to get "just a few" more trays soon. I need some in black to match new granite countertops, at least. The narrow bit between the sink and back door is always collecting stuff, and if you throw down car keys and dog leashes often enough, there goes the surface. I like everything about this tray. The surface is non-slip, which is great! This size was just right for me.It also fits perfectly on the seat of a walker, so you can easily transport items that may fall over on the seat cushion alone.I also use this tray as a portable card table for rummy. I've used it as a mini table to do jewelry crafts so the beads don't roll off. When using it sitting up, I put a thin travel pillow on my lap under the tray. That way, I can adjust the angle of my tray "table".There are different sizes, so order what's best for your needs.I do recommend this affordable tray! It's not just for dinner anymore!

The Carlisle CT121603 Café Standard Cafeteria / Fast Food Tray, 12" x 16", Black tray was an awesome buy with a price reduction. I was disappointed that it looked somewhat used (reason for 4 stars), but I only intend to use it myself at home. It will definitely complete the job I bought it for, carrying multiple items at one time without dropping anything. These trays will not impress guests, but they are sturdy, easy to clean, and lightweight.

This 12"x16" tray is perfect for under my coffee maker. I have a number of these trays in assorted sizes and use them for all sorts of things. This one would be fine for setting snacks on when watching TV. I have a couple of larger ones for that. The tray is sturdy and has ridges on it so things don't slip and slide around. It cleans up quickly and easily and is so inexpensive that I may buy a couple of more to use around the kitchen. These are classic lunch trays. Not fancy but very versatile and useful.
