The long-awaited, follow-up to IT HATES YOU by He Is Legend is now here! HEAVY FRUIT boasts 13 tracks of grungy, heavy, melodic rock music, that will solidify He Is Legend as the trend setters, and fearless musicians their fans already recognize them to be. A long-time respected and championed band by the music industry, He Is Legend is back once again to breathe fresh air into the seemingly stagnant genre of hard rock. Heavy Fruit is produced by long-time friend and former member of the band, Mitchel Marlow (Filter, In This Moment) and mixed by Bob Marlette (Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper, Saliva). Impulsive is a word that comes to mind when thinking about Wilmington, NC band He Is Legend. Their sound is best described as rock and roll although; it can be difficult to predict what direction their next album might take. Refusing to be pigeon holed into one sub genre, they choose to write songs that can be unique and polar opposites of each other, but still assuring you that you’re listening to He Is Legend. Pulling influences from bands like Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins, they crafted an aggressive and faster sound with those defining elements. The name He Is Legend is an adaptation of the 1954 book I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. After releasing their first EP in June 2004 entitled 91205, the band signed on with Christian based label Solid State Records which has fueled many debates among fans about whether or not they are a Christian group. While members of the band have claimed to be followers of Christ, He Is Legend has made it clear that they are not collectively a Christian band stating, “We are in no way a Christian band… We all enjoy music; we all enjoy playing our instruments, so if we had to be classified as anything it would be a ‘band’ band or ‘music’ band.” They released their full length albums I Am Hollywood and Suck out the Poison, which were followed by extensive touring in the United States and Europe with acts like Norma Jean, Atreyu, Chimaira, Dragonforce, and Killswitch Engage.

They Are Legend
He is Legend is one of my top three bands of all time, but I always dislike the new album when they release it. It's always such a departure upon first listen from what you're expecting. After a couple of listens, it starts to make much more sense.Heavy Fruit is my favorite album they've done so far. There's so much to find in each song, and the lack of screaming is a nice change and fits very well. Can't wait to hear what they do next.

Great CD, bad hard copy
Amazing record as always by He Is Legend. My only complaint is the hard copy CD itself. Whomever decided it was a good idea print the lyrics in cursive with small white lettering on a light blue background was an idiot and needs to be fired. I like reading the liner notes and lyrics just in case I missed a few lines on some of the songs.

The Unknown Legends...
The masters of reinvention. I never know what to expect from these guys and thats a good thing. HIL never ceases to amaze me. It's a shame that more people don't know about them. This album is no exception. It did take a few listens to digest but every listen it gets better. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.

he is legend returns with a moodier, darker, and more varied album. It it kills.
What can I say, it's He Is Legend. I've Been there since 90125, and I gotta say, this is their best album. It blends hints of all of their albums with a newer, darker sound to create pure musical genius. Pour it out fellas!!!!

if you like 'I hate you' quit reading reviews and buy it
great album. good predecessor from I hate you. I love all of their music and historically speaking, when you get a new HIL album its going to sound a lot different than any of their older stuff. This one is surprisingly similar to I hate you, which is my favorite album to date. So, maybe they've found their spot and will keep rolling this way. I personally hope so and will be looking forward to any future releases by these guys.

But if you liked most of what came previously
It's not the same HIL as last time, just as they were different then from the HIL of the time before that, so it takes some adjusting to. But if you liked most of what came previously, Heavy Fruit will give you that good feel once again.

Great Music, Terrible Delivery
Love the music, He Is Legend always deliver, but the cd case arrived all smashed up. Again, music was great, but the actual delivery was awful.
