Comfortable and effective
My 6th grader uses these to block excessive noise in the classroom when she is concentrating on work or a test. She has tried several traditionaltypes of Boise cancelling headphones and found them all too tight on her head. She loves these and while they are not 100 percent noise cancelling, they bring the. Pose to an acceptable level for her to focus. Thank you for this product! Would like to see additional bands come out in other colors and patterns and maybe the words. It so blatant.

Very comfortable for sleeping but did not block out enough sound
I really wanted these to work! Very comfortable for sleeping but did not block out enough sound. The headband slipped off my forehead down to my eyes, no matter how I strapped it. I understand there is a new model in the works for the headband to make it more adjustable and have slightly better noise reduction.

As described but just not for me
I had high hopes for this but it didn't work out for me. I am a light side sleeper and was hoping to block out road noise at night. This was packaged well and the company answered all my questions previous to purchase. The product met all the descriptions put forth by the manufacturer. The problems for me were that even though the cups are pretty soft I just could not get used to sleeping on my side with them pressing into my head even with a very soft and expensive latex pillow. The headband is secure and good quality but to block out enough sound to get to sleep you have to put it pretty tight and it gets uncomfortable. As Hibernate indicates it does not block out all noise and you may have to use it in conjunction to ear plugs but I do believe if you can get used to the sensation of having something on your head while you sleep it should block out enough noise to help you get to sleep. Probably would work nicely for air travel to dull engine noise if you don't mind having something on your head. I have since bought a white noise machine that drowns out noise enough to help me relax and it works pretty well and came out to 25$ with coupons at Bed Bath and Beyond. It's called the LectroFan. Good luck to all those restless sleepers out there.

THESE DO NOT WORK WELL, IF AT ALL
I bought these to take to India with me, thinking they would help on the long plane ride over and when I had to sleep with a roommate in hotels. I did not buy bigger noise reduction headphones as I thought the soft sides of these things might be okay for side sleepers like myself. Well, these proved to be useless. And, yes, I tried them in all different configurations and sitting or sleeping positions. The low end of their rating claims a 30% percent reduction in external noise. Which, in retrospect, does not seem like much anyway. Perhaps that was the tip off that I should not have purchased them.Unfortunately, I was gone long enough on my trip that my Window to Return (30 days) as offered by Amazon is now over. So, I'll trash them. I do not know what this manufacturer was thinking. Here's a suggestion to them: put them on and sit ten feet away from your tv with the sound at a moderately low level. Do you hear every word clearly? Yes. so do I. A big disappointment.

These sleeping earmuffs seem to be a good balance between some noise reduction and comfort
As a light sleeper, I’ve always been subject to waking up from bumps in the night so to speak. I’ve used earplugs for years but wanted to find an earmuff to use either with or without the earplugs. Most earmuffs block sound really well but are very uncomfortable especially to sleep. These sleeping earmuffs seem to be a good balance between some noise reduction and comfort. I've been using this product for over a week and I am satisfied with it. The product seems light and durable enough to hopefully get several years of use out of it. The headband can be tightened to your tastes; I like it on fairly tight. The sound blocking might seem inadequate compared to regular sound blocking earmuffs but they are easier to wear for hours. By themselves they offer a subtle sound blocking effect. They work well to tune out distant background noise. If the sound problem is very loud or close it will overwhelm these earmuffs. The makers are very clear that these are not meant to stop loud noises that a normal earmuff could stop. I prefer the flat ear cushion pads to the doughnut pads for both sound blocking and comfort. With the earplugs I use and these earmuffs on I figure I’m getting about 45 decibels worth of noise reduction. I have side slept with them, but they feel best while sleeping on your back. I’ve only used them for sleep but I could see using them in the day if I needed some quiet time.

Great for autism sensory overload
I live in a noisy household, with two little boys on the autism spectrum. I was looking for something to take the "edge" off when a meltdown's underway. The screaming can be intense, and pounding headaches usually ensue. This item was perfect. It blocks out enough noise to give my ears a reprieve, but I'm still able to function and look after my children. It's also great for my littles when they're feeling overwhelmed. Sensory issues are a real challenge--and loud noises are triggers. The adjustable headband is comfortable and they seem to like it. Now I'm considering buying two more, just so we have some spares. Great buy from a special needs mom.

Good but not good enough
If I where to design noise muffling cups with a headband this is what I would make. Unfortunately I suck at product design. They only work well when sleeping on the back. As when one sleeps on their side the thickness of the ear covers raises the head to an uncomfortable level. They are prone to being dislodge as one moves rendering them useless and disruptive.

Not good if you're a side sleeper
My wife purchased these for her to use. She is a side sleeper and the large ear muffs were uncomfortable for her. When she sleeps on her back, she said they do block out noise but feel bulky. They may be great for traveling or when she needs peace and quiet when she is at home.
