Not too useful
It lacks a methodology to show the reasons.

The Stock Trader's Almanac is a staple for any trader - it will make for a more profitable year ahead.
I haven't finished reading the Stock Trader's Almanac for 2017 but feel inclined to give it 5 stars based on the 49 editions which came before it. Like the farmers almanac (I'm from Iowa) gives the farmer information that pertains to his or her trade the Stock Trader's Almanac gives those in the stock market valuable information that pertains to trading stocks. Simple right? Well, a lot of statistics were used in putting this book together, which is the most profitable day of the week to trade, when are the triple witching days, what are the 10 best or 10 worst days or weeks, months or quarters by percent and point, what are the 3 most profitable months of the year, and with an election year - based on how the market has acted the first half of the year who will be the next president.Well worth reading before the start of 2017 - read it well and you will most likely be rewarded with better gains for 2017 than you had the previous year!

This book is a must-have - each and every year!!!
This was an absolutely fantastic book. I will be buying one of these every year. While looking at past performance cannot predict future performance (haven't we all heard this before?? haha), the almanac provides some great insight as to historical performance in the stock market. This edition provided much information related to results after an election. It also provided some awesome insight as to a six-month strategy. Example: A one-time investment in 1950 of $10,000 in the Dow Jones during May 1 - Oct 31 and then switching to fixed income during the Nov 1 - Apr 30 six-month period resulted in a balance of $9,681 in 2015 - yes, a loss! But switching it around and making that one-time investment in Nov 1 - Apr 30 resulted in a balance of $843.577.I got some extremely valuable information from this, and I am just a normal investing type person.

Helpful
Interesting historical perspective. The basic premise has been challenged by at least one study which demonstrated that being constantly invested in a S&P index ETF outperformed the sell in May and buy in October trading. However, there are many other useful patterns presented.

Great resource, again
Great resource, again. What else can be said about this book besides it being entertaining, informative, and useful? Quick tip, don't get caught up in the beginning the book, page toward the end and there are some great tools to log your trading results and gather your thoughts about the completed trades. Great stuff and well worth reading.

Very good Almanac. I like the statistics and prepared for, and post-election year. the stock market downturn in mid-August thru November, for this, almost regular yearly stock market pull-back.

Essential tool for traders!
Fabulous tool. This almanac is chock full of information and education about market cycles and timing, in addition to being a handy day by day diary. I was so impressed that I've subscribed to Mr. Hirsch's service and very glad I did.

Another year, another almanac.
I purchase these every year to use as my final log for the day, and I find it useful for important note taking and the almanac provides important market dates throughout the month and provides historical statistic market data.

Be Ahead of the Trend with the Almanac!
This is one of my annual must buys to keep me aware of those underlying market trends that often repeat! This year's edition is chocked full of information, but seems lighter on new or emerging topics and trends, but still a buy if you are regularly investing-trading!
