Better than expected
This is a very high quality splat mat. I'd previously purchased another and the material was not as thick as this one, and this one also has a nice glossy finish. I love the neutral pattern, and the square shape is also great unless you need to have a round shape for your use.

"Generous size"? Well, not big enough for my 13-month-old who can easily trasfer the content of her bowl to the floor outside the mat. It's a good concept but should be about twice this size to do it's job, because all parents know what it means to havea toddler feeding her/himself.

Harder to clean than the floorI wanted to protect
This mat is not machine-washable. To clean it, you must spread it completely out (requiring a second, clean, large area), then wipe it immediately with a wet cloth. If you wait, and let the baby-dropped food/scraps dry, you will need to soak, then scrub, that area. All this makes it harder to clean than the floor wanted to protect. It's easier for me to just clean the floor.

This products is ok. It is heavy duty material but the edges curl up all the time and I really was hoping it was going to be bigger than it is. My sons highchair just fits on it and he is know to through his food.

I'm not sure why this mat has such great reviews. Not only is it huge but it doesn't stay down on the floor. It was constantly crinkled up and bunched up until we just removed it. I would suggest something weighted in the corners to keep it down.

It was pretty easy to clean until the last month
I've had this for about 4 months now. It was pretty easy to clean until the last month... there's stains on there that won't come out. Plus the sides curl in now which is annoying because it covers less area .. not sure how to get it to lay flat again. I've never tried other mats so I don't know how this compares. The good is that it's not tacky and blends in.

Pro-tip. Don't put this in the wash machine because then it gets ruined. I threw it out after only having it for a few weeks because of that :( It's also not very big for an angry toddler at lunch time.
