I have fallen in line with the new moscow mule trend. I am absolutely obsessed with them. I've been making them at home fairly frequently, but without a muddler. So, I would smoosh the mint with a spoon at the bottom of the mug, which kind of-sort of did the job. Finally, I decided I needed a muddler, since I was making the drink almost daily. I got this set, and ordered it with Prime 2-day shipping. As promised, it was at my door in two days. The packaging it came in was a plain bag, nothing special. I used the set for the first time last night. The muddler works very well, the ridges in the bottom are deep enough that mint is easily crushed in a way that it releases its oils. The color on the muddler is really pretty as well, it's very true to the pictures. It's not terribly heavy, but does the job well! I didn't really think the mixing spoon was a necessary part of the package, but bought it anyways. Turns out, I really love having it. This way, I don't have to use my dinner spoons (or my finger) to mix the drinks. The spoon is really nice. It's very long, with a broad, flat top on it. The handle is twisted, which makes it sort of pretty to look at. It's heavy and feels like it will hold up for a long time. I put both the muddler and the mixing spoon in the dishwasher with no issues. I wanted to make a drink pun but I've got nothing.I really just bought this for the muddler but the spoon is a cool second piece. I am a mojito-loving American. There's something insanely refreshing about a properly made mojito in the summertime. The cool refreshing taste lingers pleasantly.To make a good mojito you need a good tool to work with. Boom, here it is. I think there's probably nothing special about this muddler and honestly, that's exactly what you want. I just wanted a basic, functional tool that wasn't frilly and pretty and overpriced. I wanted something that I could marry my mint into my drink with, without tearing it up. You don't want to tear the leaves up, you want to get them right before that happens. You can pretty much do that with ANY apparatus but a muddler is helpful for the specific purpose. This one served that purpose... again... and again.... well, you get the idea.I received this item at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
