This works well for soft, shiny hair
I love this shampoo bar. When I use it, my hair is shiny, soft, silky, and it has a little more wave to it than normal. I have a little natural wave to my long hair, but I think this brings it out a little more. I don't use it every day, but probably 2 or 3 times a week. I didn't know if I would like it, but I really do. You have to give it a chance, if you have never used a shampoo bar before. You wet your hair, and then while it is really wet, you start rubbing the shampoo bar over your hair on your scalp area. It lathers nicely. You don't need to shampoo down the length of your hair, but focus on the roots and scalp, massaging it in. Then let it run through the length. I do use the conditioner bar, too, sliding it down the length of my hair, but not really doing the very top/scalp. It takes a time or two to get used to using it, but I really do like this and the other shampoo & conditioner bars this company makes. I also do like the idea that I'm using a product that doesn't have a plastic bottle as waste, even though I would recycle it. It comes it a thin, cardboard box, and the shampoo bar is inside a paper wrapper. I let the shampoo bar air dry, and then I actually put it back inside the wrapper & little box. You can't leave it in the shower, unless you place it in a special soap dish/shampoo & conditioner bar holder or bag that lets the water drain away. They sell those, too, but I haven't bought one yet.

Who knew this little bar of shampoo would really WORK!!!
Really works! Exceptional performance in a little bar that lathers up just like shampoo but you don’t have the plastic waste just a little box it comes in, looks like a bar of soap but works like a shampoo! I put it directly on the areas where my hair was thinning or balding in the temple area) due to menopause and worked in a good lather than just let it sit while I washed my body than rinsed & conditioned with my own smell good conditioner because the rice shampoo has no smell but after a few weeks of doing this routine, I noticed baby hair growth coming back! So exciting because this stuff works! Just stick with it & don’t give up! If you have oily hair go ahead & wash your hair with your shampoo before applying the conditioner! It’s just so your hair will stay fresh & clean! This is mostly for hair regrowth! So you can add your shampoo to it after you let it sit for a few minutes because it’s great & works! I love not having that bald spot anymore !

Dried out my scalp- but Kitsch’s customer service is incredible.
(Addendum to original review.). So- this shampoo bar did not help whatever weird condition is afflicting my scalp. However- I am giving this bar five stars, because Kitsch, as a company, is providing a level of incredible customer service that has become increasingly rare. All I can say is I now know this company really, really cares about its customers.So- though this product may not have worked for me- I am absolutely going to try other Kitsch products. I am happy to support a company that cares so much for what people think about their products. Again- the product itself was a pleasure to use. And it’s a good buy, because if kept dry, you are going to get a lot of use out of it.My point is: the standards of this company, and the quality of their products, have made sure I remain a Kitsch customer. And I *highly* recommend ordering from them. They are an absolute joy to deal with. Thank you.I always have high hopes for solid shampoo bars. I've tried several, but none of them seem to help with what is going on. Since moving to the Midwest from the West Coast years ago, my scalp has been really dry and, about a month after moving here, a patch of hair the size of my palm just dropped off the top of my head. This hair eventually grew back, but it will not grow longer than about 3/4 of an inch. I've been to lots of doctors and had cortisone injections (I also tried Minoxidil) and tried a million dandruff and anti-fungal and other treatment shampoos, and nothing has gotten rid of the dryness. It's not dandruff- the doctors let me know that. They just don't know what is going on. My scalp almost gets a granular feel to it. I've also tried many scalp scrubs, which provide some temporary relief, but the weird granular dryness always returns.I think the only way I'll be able to get rid of the scalp thing is to move back to live next to the ocean. Financially, that is not an option right now, so I remain stranded in the dried-out flatness for the foreseeable future. The positive reviews for this shampoo bar made it sound effective, and also studies have shown that rice water really can encourage hair growth. The shampoo bar went on sale for Prime Day, so I thought why not give it a try.The bar itself is pleasant to use. It had no obvious scent that I could detect. I found the bar held together, even in the stream of water from the shower. I initially used it by rubbing the bar on my scalp until it foamed up, then used my rubber scalp scrubber as usual. I didn't use any conditioner after the first time, as I wanted to gauge as accurately as possible the product had on my scalp. After my hair dried, I noticed that my scalp was once again covered in a weird layer of dryness. I then applied some leave-in scalp treatment, and that helped, but I realized sadly that it was looking like this shampoo bar was making the condition of my scalp worse. My hair felt fine- it didn't feel "stronger," but it felt clean. It was just that my scalp still felt dry, and strange. The next time I used it, I worked up a lather between my hands, then applied the lather to my scalp, as opposed to rubbing the bar on my head. I let the lather sit on my scalp for at least two minutes, then used the scalp scrubber, then rinsed, then followed with conditioner. Again, after my hair and scalp dried, I noticed the layer of dryness on my scalp seemed a bit worse. The next time I shampooed, I used a clarifying shampoo to try to reduce the layer of crud on my scalp. After my hair dried this time, my scalp was much less congested, and felt much cleaner and refreshed.So-- this product is just not for me. I wish it worked, as I can tell the bar, if it is allowed to dry, should last for quite awhile, and I was hoping to see some growth-boosting effects, as some have. However I am looking for something to improve the condition of my scalp, and this shampoo bar is obviously not working.

Maybe a gimmick? Read review!
This shampoo bar worked just as well as any other that I've used especially for color-treated hair. I tried it because of the dry/no water/no plastic. But I'm so used to being able to measure out the correct amount of product when it's a liquid, I had a hard time being confident that I wasn't overdoing it with this. Plus, it's awkward to carry in a gym bag. Thus, the four stars rather than five. It came very highly recommended by a high-end women's beauty site, so I'm not worried about it damaging my hair. Perhaps over time I'll grow to like it more.

Worth switching
I’ve switched from regular body wash, shampoo and conditioner to Kitsch a few months ago. I was sick of the clutter of plastic bottles in the shower, they were always falling over and I had to keep them upside down to get all of the product out at the end. Then there was the task of rinsing and recycling the bottles too. I won’t be going back to that, the convenience of the Kitsch products has been great. I purchased the Kitsch mesh bags and keep them hanging on small suction hooks in the shower. With the bags, the product is very long lasting, it lathers nicely and I don’t have to use much at all. It rinses out quickly and the conditioner leaves my graying hair silky soft, but not greasy.
