12" Boil Screen

Bought this to replace a CPVC manifold that was falling apart in my coleman xtreme cooler MLT. Works like a charm, first batch was a Cream Ale with 20% adjuncts that has a tendency to get stuck, even with rice hulls. No stuck sparges here using this boil screen. Stiff enough to hold up to probably any amount of grains you throw at it. Well constructed; I expect this to last for many years. Clean up was a simple rinse with the hose and done. If you use a Rubbermaid or similar drink cooler, check to see if the 12" length will fit, if not they make a 6" one as well.

Falsely advertised. The nipple on this that I received is not 1/2" as is stated. It's closer to an OD 3/4" and ID 6/10" (or 3/5"). So now I have to either return this and buy a different one or go shop for different couplings and hope my cooler hole can fit them. The material is sturdy is about the only positive about this product.

I use this in my BIAB set up under a false bottom. Six batches later ...it's still in great shape. Easily screws on and off for cleaning. Just grasp at the clamp/fitting while turning (not the screen) and it will not come apart. Really good quality screen material held to the ss fitting by a ss compression clamp. Good quality...good price.

So I haven't actually used it yet but just by looking at it I can tell it's made well. I only wish it came as a female, I bought a coupling from the hardware store to attach it...in retrospect and possibly my next mini-upgrade it might be a good idea to have set this up with quick disconnect fittings for easy cleaning.

Not much of a filter. Used on three brews. I think it's more for an all grain filter rather than an extract filter. Or if you use hop leaves rather than pellets.

Fitting was 3/8" not 1/2" as described. Returned and got the real deal from another seller. I contacted Midwest supplies and this is NOT theirs as the item elludes.

I use this screen in a cooler-style mash tun for home brewing. After 10 brews or so, it works well. My only complaint is that the hose clamp that secures the screen to the fitting has plenty of places for grain to get caught. I have to pay special attention to this area when cleaning the cooler when I'm done mashing. Other than that, it does what it should, and seems durable enough to get knocked around a bit by my stainless steel spoon during the mash.
