**Q: On 16" x 40" background, does the design repeat across the 40 inch width, or is it enlarged enough to have one design across the 40 inch width?**
A: The pattern repeats every 16 inches give or take 1/2". I was kind of bummed about that- ended up cutting mine up and using one "repeat" for my 5.5 gal desktop and cutting out individual parts to stick on another tank's back glass before covering with plain black background. You might be able to eke out more than 16" by taking some part of section on each side, without it being obvious that it's a repeated pattern. 

The quality of the image and the material itself is quite good overall, though.

**Q: Dose fit a 20gal fish tank**
A: Yes.... you can cut it too fit
