## Description

The original Hydroton® brand expanded clay is a unique, lightweight expanded clay aggregate made in Germany. This natural clay is mined, formed into pellets, then kiln fired at high temperatures to cause the clay to expand into tough, lightweight balls. Clay naturally has balanced capillary action, with an ideal surface structure. Hydroton® brand expanded clay is semi-porous and generally does not float like other products can. For best results, rinse all expanded clay before use. It is reusable as long as it is thoroughly cleaned between uses. 50 liter bags feature an easy pour spout.

Review: Good product - Yes there is some dust. Yes most of the pellets do float but then again I'm not doing underwater terraforming. Are a reddish color with a blackish interior. Are of various sizes which allow a denser packing. Helpful hint to get rid of dust and stop floaters....rinse pellets off, place pellets in water inside a pressure cooker/canner making sure pellets can be or are submersible. Pressure cook/can for about 10 minutes. Can either let cool or just release pressure. Pellets will be floating. Place pellets in container of clean warm water. 99.9% of pellets will sink. Keep pellets underwater until ready to use. Do not allow to dry out. Allow pellets to cool about 15 minutes before using.

**Q: Is this shipped in a box?**
A: Mine came in a bag as pictured and that was in an amazon box.

**Q: Are they perfectly round? Or are they irregular shaped?**
A: Our Hydroton Clay is a round particle, but there will also some some more oval shapes here and there as is expected from a pproduct of this type.

**Q: Why is this priced so high? Its 3 times the price if you order from an online hydroponic store.**
A: Are you checking the shipping rates on them ? Some hydro shops want $25 for a 50L bag. After you put them item in cart, shipping rates are around $75.

**Q: Weight25 l hydroton weighs 20lbs. this cannot be 9 lbs. is it 40lbs? how do i ask manufacturer???**

This stuff is great. In my ebb and flow hydro system, I use these clay pellets. I've tried other plastic pellets from other manufacturers and found that these are superior to anything else out there. Some people might complain about the clay dust, but that's an easy thing to solve by giving them a quick rinse before putting them into your hydro system. The roots of my plants grip onto these with ease and it provides a sturdy support for the plant so it grows upright.
