Running Scared (BD)Slick, fast-paced and brutally shocking, this gritty action filled movie will jolt your senses like nothing else you've ever experienced. Struggling mob hand Joey Gazelle (Paul Walker- “The Fast and the Furious,” “Into the Blue”) finds his life turned inside-out when a "hot" weapon he's in charge of concealing goes missing. With two mafia families and a team of crooked cops watching his every move, Joey sets out on a chilling, bloody pursuit, maneuvering his way through a horrific web of creeps and criminals, praying he can retrieve the gun and make it home to his wife (Vera Farmiga- “The Departed,” “The Manchurian Candidate”) and child -- alive.]]>

Violent Type Thing
There is nothing like a narrative fabric with thick clusters of action. The motion of "Running Scared" traverses without a fear impediment. This casual pointed chaos fashions, here in "Running Scared", morally ambiguous people crafted at whim and formed in spontaneous exertions over limiting parameters. There is a dark side, and it is seen in Joey Gazelle(Paul Walker), who is a father but who is also very violent and involved with a New Jersey crime mob. In Joey there is social calmness and innocence, and also in Joey there is innate trustfulness, and we see it in his dinner with his family. In eighteen hours a frenetic tale is weaved together by a drug deal gone bad, a missing gun stolen by a young boy, Oleg(Cameron Bright), and derelict characters encountered in the random trips outside the familiar settings of small New Jersey houses. Joey is a local, mellow with an overt neighborhood accent and sure footed, but fueled by adrenaline his fluidity is in head turns, and irreverent youthful jargon. Oleg becomes united with Joey, and Oleg has a boyish profile which is perfect as he himself, though scared, is cool and collected. It's a nightmare world and Joey, Oleg, and Nicky(Alex Neuberger), Joey's son, push evil dreams away in a convex berth by actions. Taresa (played by Vera Farmiga) as Joey's wife has nondescript graces which permeate out in the good naturedness of her and Joey's son, Nicky, and in decisive moral actions. Teresa as a New Jersey gangster's wife is blue collar sexy. One of the exploits Taresa gets involved with is really hair raising. There are killers that turn on Joey, from his own mob family, and as events fall down together, the physical body is subject to absurdist abuses which are then used to elongate tense sequences. Tommy 'Tombs' Perello(Johnny Messener) is the one who, at the start of "Running Scared* begins the string of violence; little anecdotes of conflicts are captured in his sails. Most of the movie takes place at night, and is nourish in it's cinematography. Nice colors are seen in splashes of white light. The Arlington Diner front structure prevails in the fluorescent patches .

Best underated in your face action movie you may have never heard of
The best, most underrated, in your f#@$&#$ Face action movie you may have never heard of. If you have not seen this movie I strongly STRONGLY deeply Insistently, forcefully, urge you PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS Tarentinoish WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!! If John Wick and Run Lola Run had a baby then meanwhile A History of Violence and and Reservoir Dogs had a baby and somehow those two baby's grew up met and F#$@&£π this would be there illegitimate love child. This movie is boss, dope, bomb, legit,,lit, hot fya and every other slang word I can think of for possibly the best hyper-realistic-crime-action Odyssey I've ever seen seriously and Paul Walker really gets a chance to shine here and play a different type of character than you have ever seen him do with a great supporting cast of familiar faces I would buy it for you just so you would watch it...but I don't know you like that. Anywhat what else you gonna do now that you've exhausted your Netflix, Hulu, Disney plus, and 5 other streaming services library because of Covid-19 lockdowns (disclaimer old people should not watch this or ppl with mild heart conditions or epilepsy.. probably not the best idea)..So do yourself a favor do the memory of Paul walker a favor do the post man a favor by waiting for him to deliver it and tell him how good it is! But most importantly do Warner Bros a favor because Marvel is F##$&$@ killing it and buy this movie. Your welcome, yours truly-This guy

Intense is an understatement for this film
Running Scared is about a little killed named Oleg (Cameron Bright) who shot his abusive father with a gun he stole from his neighbor Joey (Paul Walker). Little did he know the gun he used was from a heist gone wrong that ended up killing a crooked cop. A whole bunch of crooks and cops are after him. Not only that but he runs into one crazy person after another. The story lays out a completely bizarre tale going from one insane situation to another. Some of the people Oleg meets include a homeless drug addict, a prostitute that got beaten up by her pimp, and two child molesters. It definitely goes far and beyond the usual story. What draws people in is to see whether Oleg can survive the night. It really is an amazing bit of writing that never lets off the gas.C

A Ricochetting Movie
Ricochetting because it's one of those movies in which the main character gets bounced about and off all manner of characters and situations, in this case in his search for a gun used in an opening shoot out and which, if it falls into the hands of the police, would constitute evidence of the most important kind. Most of the movie is set down in the dark, violent underbelly of low class sleazy gangsterism, both home-grown American and imported Russian. Mixed up in all this is 'The Wife', the kid, the kid's friend (another kid), dodgy cops, and nasty lowlifes, and it all hangs together quite well. Even the kids fit in well and don't grate on the nerves as kids can do in adult films. In fact one of the more bizarre side trips involves a seemingly respectable couple who love children and have an apartment full of toys: they turn out to be dangerously off their heads (I'm trying not to give away too much here). There are a few tangential trips in this film but that provides an unpredictability and diversity in what would otherwise be just another run-of-the-mill crime movie. With good acting, camera work, characterization and sub-plots, this film is recommended.

great
I rented this film on the basis that my girlfriend likes the lead actor and I wasn't expecting great things I have to say. From the synopsis it just looks like yet another yo yo boys n the hood white man kicks ass against in the naughty drug dealing world and gets to drive fast into some dustbins at some point. However, the more I watched this the more I got into it until eventually i was totally submerged and ended up shouting at the television trying to tell the characters what to do. Also, for once there is a strong female role which is not limited by 2-D comic book stereotyping (e.g. like the Bride in Kill Bill). Both parts of the troubled family portrayed in this film kick ass and I would recommend this to anyone who has any interest good action films without OTT special effects and pyrotechnics.

Surprisingly good
Not the type of film I would normally watch but I'd encourage you to ignore the undeservedly harsh comments of some other reviewers because Running Scared just might have you as glued to your seats as I was. I would add that some of the "facts" of the plot as described by some reviewers are inaccurate. Perhaps this was done so as not to give away some of the surprises, so, errors forgiven. Yes, the film is violent (very violent), the language is strong, but the plot is neither weak or confusing, the direction is crisp and clever and the acting is generally very, very good; even some of the stereotypical gangster type characters manage to make you believe. The biggest and most wonderful surprise is Paul Walker, who moves out of the "just another pretty face" category and reveals real talent. As I watched the film, I kept saying to myself "Damn, he's good." I hope future roles come his way that take him into new areas that allow him to continue to stretch and develop his talent; the guy has got it.

excellent
Wow what an excellent film, very different to the fast and furious. In places very funny, not what you expect from Paul Walker. He is excellent in this film, very strong language, so be aware. Brilliant from begining to end, anyone wanting to watch another good Paul Walker film, watch Bobby Z that's brilliant too and funny. Such a shame this gorgeous, charitable man passed away so soon! RIP x
