You have to listen to the audio while it records through the headphones every time as there are times when the device doesn't record sound at all through one of the two channels and at times through both channels. At such times restart the camera by removing the camera's battery and putting it back and also restart the beachtek by removing the battery and putting it back in after shutting off the power. This is almost like turning off the camera like a computer and the Beachtek device like a sound card. I've also noticed that if you route sound through a mixer into the device the sound often peaks and crackles. It usually works fine when you have a single mike through the device. The AGC disable button throws up noise in one channel keep this in mind and don't be alarmed by the noise thrown up. That's what helps keep the camera from the auto gain the 5D Mark II would decide to do on its own. The device is a good support device but it does have certain hiccups which you need to beware of. Cheers. Hope this review is helpful for you. The big advantage you have is that you don't need to sync sound later if you've managed to use this device well. I also use rechargeable 9Volt batteries. The device guzzles a lot of power so keep a few 9Volt batteries handy. If the battery runs out during a take you will here a sharp whistle in audio during the take before the device shuts down. This renders the take bad. So be careful...Headphones on always! ### ⭐⭐⭐ Not Bad, Not Good *by I***J on Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2012* This has integrated into my rig nicely BUT the fact that it doesn't have some kind of levels/indicators on it to determine if the signal is to low, to hot or just right is a MAJOR design flaw for the price! I really wish I had sent this back while I still had time to be honest as this piece of gear isn't cheap but yet CRUCIAL! I shoot a multitude of events and since having this piece of gear I've shot 2 live bands with unsatisfactory results! The 1st band I shot the sound was horrible, totally hot, and rough, the 2nd band came in the opposite since I kept in mind the 1st shoot! The bottom line is the lights that light up to "tell you how strong the signal is" don't cut it. If you shoot live events then you know things are constantly changing and this unit will make it more challenging than it should or have to be so I'd definitely recommend you use an adapter with easily (even in the dark) viewable meters! On the plus side, I like the build/construction quality of it & the XLR inputs. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nifty little box *by D***L on Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2011* I really liked the unit.
