This Pine J NUC Box is similar to the Cypress J NUC Box but has a few exceptions. The box is made of Northern White Pine and the Top is made of 3/4" exterior MDO sign plywood with stardard feeding hole. The plywood top has a dado cut around the edges to keep the tops from sliding off the box. Depth of the frame ledge has been increased to 7/8' to allow for our dado in the tops and when the tops are turned over to the flat side there is an extra 3/8" space for feeding. The bottom is screened for ventilation and has wood strips over exposed screen edges to help when handling from the bottom. There are 3/4" wood spacers made of Cypress attached to the bottom for ventilation when stacked for shipping and do not need to be painted so you only need to paint the tops and sides of the box. All the joints are glued and stapled. A small piece of Pine comes with the J NUC to seal the entrance or used as an entrance reducer to restrict the 4" opening. The J NUC Box holds 5 Standard Deep Hive Body Frames (not included). Boxes are unfinished Pine ready for a coat of exterior paint to ensure years of service.
