This one really works and heats up well. We have had many others and they just don't heat up like this one. Really happy with the purchase and when this gives out will buy again. No comparison to the other brands.

I'll start by saying that the blanket itself (even without turning it one) is quite warm! Of course after I started using it we had a winter heatwave and it was almost too hot! I found that it is usually sufficient to just pre-heat the blanket and keep it on for a very short time and it will hold the heat very well throughout the night.It turns out the blanket is not quite as programmable as I expected. The description makes it sound like it has all kinds of heat settings and timers. It really doesn't. The "heat settings" are simply heat levels: 1 through 10. Nothing at all fancy about that. The only other control is the number of hours you want it to stay on after you turn it on: 1 through 12. While I had been hoping for something a bit more, I suppose in actual use that level of control is sufficient.And finally the controllers. I don't disagree with the other reviews of the controllers. When they are backlit for 40 seconds after pressing a button, they are very easy to read. After that? Almost impossible, even in broad daylight. You have to be looking at them at just the right angle. Is that a huge deal for me? Probably not. I've found a setting I like, and as I said, I just use the timer to have it shut off after about 2 hours anyway. I can't imagine that I would need to check the setting or adjust it after I am in bed, although I do think I could manage to find the right button to press even in the dark, at which point the backlight would come on.I also agree that the cords could use another foot in length. If I were to keep the controllers on the floor, maybe the length would be appropriate, but putting it on the nightstand is difficult and leads to the issue that others are reporting regarding the fact that the controllers are very light and will not lie flat if the cord is taught (which it probably is in most cases).Overall, I'm still quite satisfied with this purchase. But if you are looking for sophisticated controls, look elsewhere.

It doesn't get super hot but the material more than makes up for it. And it looks great too.

It doesn’t get hot but it gets warm enough. The control feels cheap and confusing at first (no instructions on how to read the control) and I prefer that the light would remain on so if you need to adjust the temperature during the night you wouldn’t need to turn on the table lamp to see where it is. The wires are noticeable and a bit harder than my previous blankets. It’s not too light that it slides off but also not too heavy. The material has a strange feeling not a natural material feeling, The blanket does seem to do the job so far.

I really don't like electric blankets made of microfleece and t seems like every electric blanket out there is microfleece, it took me a while to find one that wasn't. I wanted an electric blanket for the cold nights, with just the right amount of weight and not made out of a material that would slip off easily or get statically clingy. The flannel material this is made of was exactly what I wanted and I couldn't be happier. I also appreciate that the flannel breathes just enough so as to not to trap humidity even when you're really warmed. The weight is more like you'd expect from a quilt and so stays where you want it. It's cozy and does a good job containing the heat it puts out. It heats up very quickly and the different heat settings are predictably incremental making it easy to adjust to the a comfortable setting based on room temperature.

It hasn't been cold enough to use the blanket much in the last 3 weeks since I purchased it. It heats evenly and has a good amount of heat. The controls are fairly easy to operate.BUT, I'm concerned about the customer service. When I tried to register my blanket for the 5 yr warranty with "register.shavel.com" there's a message that the website is being updated. I tried several times to reach them on their register.shavel website with no luck. I requested a copy of the 5 yr warranty on the blanket's site on Amazon.com 1 week ago and they haven't responded. The site said I could request a copy through them. So, I called the shavel company and they asked me to leave a message and they would call me back. Then I went on their site and filled out a request form to register my blanket and get a copy of the 5 yr warranty. They are dupposed to contact back. My 30 days to register the blanket ends in 2 wks for it to be valid. I will give them a few days to respond, so I'll keep you posted if the 5 yr warranty is legitimate or a fraud. One of the reasons I bought the blanket is for the 5 yr warranty.

My 30+ year old electric blanket finally gave out and I had been looking and looking for a new one. This quilted one hit my eye and sounded good. It is OK. Like other said it doesn't get really warm like the older ones did. Reviews said it was heavy. It doesn't seem heavy to me but I like heavy - lots of blankets. The controller complaints I can understand. I have the controllers slung over each corner of the headboard and have no trouble reaching back and turning on and off. I set temp and time only once. My old blanket had a lighted dial to turn from low to 10. It sure warmed up the bed before getting in on cold winter nights. I wish at least this blanket for the first 15 minutes would heat up more to jump into a very warm bed on a freezing night. All in all though I'm not disappointed. Love the tan color and the king size fits perfectly. Soft and doesn't move around. Honestly hard to tell it is even there over the sheet.

you should fully test the product before the 30 days are up, or else; you will not get a refundi bought the blanket in August and did not use it at firstlater when the weather got cooler, found that the blanket generated no heati advised the seller and they said the blanket's warranty has expired; no refundthey sent a part (controller) to see if it was the problem; but still no heatthe seller will not do anything; i'm out $200, that's par for the course for amazon
