Two plaques: one is contoured, ebony, with both ends pointed. The second is flat, metal, both ends pointed. Ff thread spool : custom HB Oboe Reeds multi color - bravura blue, 100% nylon, 100 yd. ff spool. Beeswax bar 6" metric ruler: stainless steel with non slip cork base. Blue, green, red, or silver. Nylon tool case: 8" x 5.5" with heavy duty nylon pockets to protect knives and tools from causing or receiving damage and protecting unsuspecting hands. Three pockets for tools, three pockets for accessories. Zipper closure in black. All items included fit into the tool case when zipped closed. Knife, mandrel, and ruler fit securely in the pockets.

In full disclosure, we haven't used it yet - but I thought it was strange that there was a reed making kit that literally didn't quite fit the knives for making reeds. They have to go diagonally in the zip up bag, and the bag seems kind of small for all of the items it contains. However, considering that the options for an entry point reed making kit are slim pickens, I would say get this, just be aware about the smallish bag. The items it contains appear to be solid

Good value for a new reed makers.
Arrived on time and with everything as advertised. I'm new to reed making and everything looks like I'll be using it a long time. Good quality steel blade and a mandrel that is positioned properly in its handle. Staples and thread, gouged and folded cane is good--especially since I expect to waste a few practicing binding.
