Portable and accurate noise meter from COLEMETER
The media could not be loaded. I have been looking for a way to find "Quantification" of noise level because quiet, loud, very loud, and too loud are very subjective terms and I need a number to file complaints to the noise makers from a nearby construction site. I purchased this COLEMETER Noise Meter Tester for this purpose. The package comes with COLEMETER noise level meter, Wind-resistant ball head, User manual, and 3 AAA batteries. COLEMETER Noise Meter Tester requires 3 AAA batteries to operate and it's nice that they include batteries in the package. I just have to put the batteries into the unit and it's ready to use. It's recommended to put on the wind-resistant ball head if an user is planning to use this device outside or anywhere there might be wind noise. The device is usable without the ball head.PROs:- COLEMETER Noise Meter is pretty light and compact. At only 7" x 1.4" x 2.2", I can just leave it in my pocket and walk around with it.- The reading is accurate. I can't find a way to check if the "absolute" number is very precise as there are too many variables, but it does change the readings according to how far away I'm from the noise source. Please see my video for a walk-through.- Multiple setting available. There are MIN/MAX/HOLD mode for different purpose. In MIN mode, the reading would stay at lowest noise reading until a lower reading comes up, and vice versa for MAX mode. HOLD button is available when you want to freeze a reading.- Back-light is available on the display panel. This makes it convenient to take readings in the dark.- Auto sleep. The unit will turn itself off to save battery after 10 mins of idling.- Wide reading range. The meter can detect noise from 30 - 130 dB at a precision of 0.1db. This is good enough for most cases as usually human starts to get annoyed around 90 dB and gets really sensitive at around 100-110 dB.Overall it's a nice little device and it does help me with what I want. If you're looking for a tool to compare noise level from different things, give this a try.

Meter is great! I have used it to measure a number ...
Meter arrived as ordered and on time. Meter is great! I have used it to measure a number of sounds that one might take for granted as being safe, but the meter tells all. There are many sounds that we should be protecting ourselves from, especially if exposure is continuous. Very happy with purchase. Meter is very sensitive and will record very minute changes in sound sometimes from passersby blocking some of the sound even for an incredibly short interval. Changes in sound from the angle of acceptance and from passing winds are also instantly calculated. Pleased with meter and distributor and would recommend both to future buyers.

Very convenient db meter fits in shirt pocket.
It has nice features. Min/Max levels + Hold. Easy to use. I only wish it had a manual only mode to stay on until I shut it off. It will only run 10 minutes before automatically shutting off to save the batteries. I have to keep resetting it to check traffic noise or other over time noises which means I have to be on the spot to reset it. Otherwise it's a great value. I especially like that it uses 3 AAA batteries (included) instead of the usual 9V which are expensive and hard to clip on.

Great decibel meter
I've had a great experience with this meter. A restaurant/club just moved in across the street so I bought this to verify the noise levels and this has done the trick. It is hard to know if it is completely accurate as I don't have a 94db@1kHz calibrator but it does the job differentiating between the ambient daytime noise level and the significantly higher noise levels at night.

Excellent product. Easy to use
Excellent product. Easy to use. Does exactly what I wanted to discover about different sounds and noise levels, as I lost most of my hearing in the Marine Corps, back in the late 1960's.Comparing hearing aids to no hearing aids, and decibel level differences ... in other words, I realize why my girl friend complains about how loud the TV is !! :) :)

Make sure it has the features you need.
Meter is well made and works well, but is not that well suited for the purpose I bought it. I wanted to calibrate the speaker levels on my home theater system and I should have bought a meter with A and C weighting as well as a fast and slow setting and a setting range. I did buy another analog meter with the above settings. It worked fine The Colemeter is a good meter just not what I needed. I will keep it for other uses

Questioning The Accuracy
Well, I'd have to question the accuracy of this meter. Not sure about the calibrations. Things that are really quiet register fairly high and noises that are really loud are registering pretty low. It seems like a nice mete, and it's easy to use.

Dubios accuracy ... but sellers are responsive to your claims.
Device is of dubious accuracy IMO. Accuracy specs are only given at 1KHz only but none over the whole frequency band. Since I use it to measure subwoofer frequency levels, it measured drastically from my radioshack (RS) meter. It kept on measuring 6-8 dB lower, regardless of whether my RS meter was in fast or slow mode operation. Contacting the manufacturer didn't help at all unfortunately as they had no clue as what I wanted ...(accuracy specs across its frequency of operation --> 31.5Hz to 8KHz).Edit ... 3/12/2017 --> My original rating was 2-stars due to performance issues but the seller was kind enough to refund my money after the 30-day period and let me keep the product even though I had wanted to return it to them. They were understanding and easy to deal with.
