Garrett Ace 350 Handheld Metal Detector DD Coil + Headphones

Very light and easy to use. A true dial and go detector. It takes a bit to get used to what is a good hit and what is trash. I had lost a wedding band years ago and had a general idea of where it was. I was able to find it after about 30 minutes of searching. I dug up some old nails, bottle caps, and finally the band. Since the band cost me $900 to begin with this made it's money back on the first day. I would recommend getting a pro pointer as well it makes it easier after you pull out the clump of dirt/grass.

I had another detector befor the Ace 350 and had been over my yard several times and found a few new coins, never anything old or silver, well first time out with Ace and first ping was 1906 Indian head penny.I guess you can tell I am elated with it.Love the weight and the read out screen so simple to use and understand .Manual is very clear and simple to get thru. The DVD.will get you on your way to a lot. of fun fast. It is my 4th machine and I have had to have hours of searching an waistfull digging to get to the point you are from the start thanks to the instruction package that is included in the package. After some acclimation to this metal detector, such as the audible tones and identity graphics, this thing is a real peach! Prior reviews state that this model is good for a novice (which I am) I can still imagine it's adequate for an expert, as well.I'm still working through its operation and I'm unclear as to why it identifies aluminum cans as coins and jewelry. I'm sure it's operator error.

My husband lost his ring in a lake in NH, so I got this for him as a birthday gift. He went back to the lake three weeks after he lost the ring to look for it. With in about 45 minutes, he had recovered the ring!!!!!! It was about 8 inches down in the sand.I read a ton of reviews for metal detectors before I bought this one. For the price, it worked exceptionally well! Far superior to the cheaper one we had borrowed to try and find the ring. and now he has a new hobby!

I'm brand new at this metal detecting hobby, and was unsure about whether this Garrett 350 was not enough or too much of a detector for a newbie. So far, it's perfect, and I can see that I won't need a more sophisticated one for a while, as this one provides features it will take me time to grow into using/taking advantage of. What it has done is opened up a whole new world of having fun. Love it

Still learning how to use it. It was delivered in a very timely manner and even had batteries already installed. I think it will be a great addition to my other outdoor activivites.

So I'll start by saying I'm not a complete newbie at detecting, but I'm also not a pro. That being said, I have not been able to get this detector's discrimination function to work properly. No matter what setting I have it on, it's still hitting on iron nails and scrap metal trash. The depth measurement doesn't seem to be very accurate at all either. That being said, it detects metal...bit I have yet to seen anything different that makes it any better than any of it's MUCH cheaper predecessors. I'll most likely send this back and stick to my old detector. It works just as well imo. This is more of a "sidegrade" rather than an "upgrade."

I bought this for my wife who wanted to starting doing this for a hobby. She loves it and has started to really get into it. She says this metal detector was just right for her and should be good for her for a few years until she goes pro *lol*. :-p
